The pay-per-call program doesn't work.  You'll get a lot of calls from all over the country from people who won't want your services.  And you may not quite remember all the calls that yellowpages.com is billing you for.  When I called some of these numbers on the bill from YP back, they were bizarre: an elevator company in Quebec, doctor's offices a thousand miles away, a ribbon and gift company, disconnected numbers...

I was promised at the time of signing that I should run each month's bill by the sales rep so he could remove numbers that weren't legit customer calls.  I asked about this specifically, b/c I knew I'd get a lot of vendor calls.  I certainly didn't want to be charged $30 just because a vendor called me.

He was willing to remove numbers from the bill for the first two months, but then started giving me a song and dance that he called back the numbers, and they were people who wanted the service.  2 minutes after he made this claim I contacted all number being contested, and NONE of them wanted the services or could find anyone at the number who did.

Yes, he lied.  But apparently this is SOP at yellowpages.  Go here to find two confessions from former employees:

But it may be even more insidious than they are aware.  Lies from salesmen is one thing.  But after we disconnected the biz # we had registered with YP (they wouldn't remove it from the account records so the calls couldn't be stopped), we still got charged for several calls.  Yet when you call the old #, there's only a recording saying that the #'s been disconnected.  So how could we get charged for a 6 minute call to a disconnected number?
