I've worked for Attack Marketing three times. Their team is professional enough, and relatively reasonable to work for- though their 8 week lag time in paying their employees is ridiculous and unheard of throughout the rest of the industry. Prior to the last event I worked for them, I did not experience a great deal of difficulty in getting paid.

However, that was before I had to work with Erica Urquiza. Erica Urquiza is totally incompetent, and due to her negligence I was paid less than 55% of what I was owed for an event. I was also paid extremely late, even by Attack's standards, at 12 WEEKS from the date of the event, instead of the promised 8. I was also paid $80 for work that I was owed $146 for. I was promised an incentive pay of $50 for the 3 and 1/2 drive time (7 hours round trip), which never materialized, in addition to extra hours of base pay that also never materialized. These were all promised over the phone, and to my regret, I did not force Erica to send me these promised bonuses in email form, nor did she volunteer it. When I circled back with her a few weeks later to check on the total payment I was owed, she claimed she had not promised these things, and had no recollection of the events. For shame, Erica Urquiza.

In my multiple attempts to resolve my problems with Erica Urquiza, she was both unresponsive, rude, and uncooperative. Her lack of attention and utter disregard for her employee's welfare is the worst possible combination of traits you could have in someone in her position. If I were in Attack's shoes, I would replace her immediately.

Furthermore, Attack incorrectly classifies its employees as independent contractors. As they tell us where to be, when to be there, what to wear, and provide our tools (in my case, facepainting materials, in all cases of me working for them, t-shirts and promotional materials) they fail 4 out the 5 tests for independent contractors, and should classify us as statutory employees. I will be reporting them to the appropriate authorities, and WILL pursue the matter aggressively.

Make no mistake, working for Attack Marketing is a serious risk- you may or may not get paid, regardless of your level of communication. I will never work for them again, and I'd advise anyone to VERY carefully consider it before you sign on. If you find that you are working with Erica Urquiza, get the hell out of there as fast as you can.

Always Make Sure to Get Everything in Writing

AUTHOR: agb - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 30, 2015

In the BA industry and really any other freelance industry, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS get everything in writing. This is so if they ever go back on what they said it will be right there. When you are in the process of being booked, make sure that you encourage them to say it in the email themselves. This can be evidence used in court and even the authorities to make sure you are owed what you are. Thanks for this warning.

Joshua Killingsworth - FALSE INFORMATION, UNFAIR ACCUSATIONS

AUTHOR: Unfairly Accused - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, January 17, 2011

Joshua Killingsworth's report in full of inaccurate and false information. Most importantly, he has directed all of his frustation and blame to Erica He's upset with Attack! Marketing's payment terms, something created many years ago. All of his frustrations are ultimately a result of the department structureand the systems in place in place for wrapping a project (at the time), set forth by Attack! Marketing. Joshua Killingsworth did not get paid correct (at first) because he failed to submit his time sheet on time, nor was it accurate on his part - as it did not include any additional compensation discussed.Hewas contactedseveral times, as well, but were not able to reach him immediately. There have been much internal improvements since this incident. Ultimately, Joshua Killingsworth was paid for everything that was set forth in his contract with Attack!.
