Do not purchase any extended warranty on any new automobile, unless it is offered at the exact time you purchase the new car.
There are many, many rip off companies who offer after market extended warranties. Almost without exception these warranties are fraudulent.
Such extended warranty companies operate phone banks. They will use any means necessary to separate you from your money. In addition, they never, ever pay off should you have a claim.
My experience with such companies has been that they will eagerly accept your claim, send an adjuster to look at your automobile which needs repair, but thereafter you will get the run-a-round.
The only option you have left is to sue. In almost every case, unless the company sued is in your home state, there is diversity jurisdiction, which means you will have to go to Federal Court.
The problem is the warranties cost less than $2,000 and to fight in Federal Court it will cost you more than you could ever expect to recover.
Therefore, simply be smart and do not purchase an after market extended warranty, unless it comes directly through the dealer at the exact time you make your new vehicle purchase. Otherwise you will be the victim of fraud.

I have had very good luck with extended car warranties. Be very careful who you purchase from. There are several good companies. I had one on a Pontiac several years ago that had several thousand dollars of work done at a Pontiac dealer and I was never charged any additional money. The car was fixed and the warranty company paid the dealer.
