We were looking for a local florist (in another state) to deliver a floral arrangement to my mother for her birthday. First of all do NOT be fooled into thinking Avasflowers.com is a local company. My wife even called to place the order and when she asked them if they were local to Jackson, MS the representative said "Yes." That was a complete lie.
My wife ordered a flowering green plant, and instructed the card to read "from A, B, and C" (names removed). Repeatedly the person on the phone kept saying "from A." After 4 attempts at correcting the person, they said "OK I have it." We are still perplexed at how it was difficult for them to understand and include 3 common names on the card.
My wife felt uneasy about the card after getting off of the phone so she called back. 4 times she called, was on hold, and hung up on. She even said she could hear someone picking up the line and putting her on hold again.
Now we get to the GOOD parts. The local florist/delivery service AVA's contracted for the arrangement called my mother ON HER BIRTHDAY TO SAY THEY COULDN'T DELIVER HER FLOWERS UNLESS SHE LEFT WORK TO MEET THEM ACROSS TOWN. Of course this was a surprise and they wouldn't tell her who the flowers were from so she refused for safety concerns. We paid extra delivery charges for the flowers to be delivered on that specific date, only to have them delivered a day late when my mother refused to leave her workplace and drive across town to pick up her own flowers.
As soon as the flowers weren't delivered on her birthday we called Avasflowers.com for a refund but could get no one. We called our credit card company, and they had a different number and got a representative on the line. The representative told us that we would have to call the local florist because they are the ones who charged us - WRONG! Avasflowers.com charged us and would accept no blame in this incredible disaster.
The icing on the cake is that the plant was delivered a day late, and with only my wife's name on them, and the item was a poinsetta - absolutely not even what we ordered her.
My wife said she has never received worst customer service in her life. We paid for an item that was delivered a day late, actually a different item than what we ordered was delivered, even after we paid an extra charge to have it delivered on short notice. The card was wrong. My mother was asked to drive to meet the deliverer for her own flowers. Don't even think about calling avasflowers.com back for anything b/c you will just be hung up on.
Use a local florist. Be SURE it's a local florist. Avasflowers.com will lie and say they are local, but they are NOT.
