Avery Air Conditioning - Phone Quote was misleading - Dallas, Texas

I placed a call to Avery Air and advised that I needed someone to come out and - at a minimum, I would need to have my system charged. I also advised that I would like to have a cost estimate as to the final repairs, as the charge was clearly a temporary fix.

I was told by the Avery person on the phone that the cost would be $ 89.00. When the tech arrived, he explained that $ 89.00 only covers having a technician show up at the door. The cost of charging the system would be another $ 189.00. It was after 5 on a Friday and the temperature in the house was 88 degrees. I explained to the tech that they basically had me over a barrel and that I was not pleased with the way my situation was handled. He explained that the people that manage the calls don't have a lot of technical knowledge about the actual service(s).

I told him that management/owners decide how much knowledge the people on the phone possess. They could either employ people who can speak to process and cost or educate their phone people so that they are capable of speaking to this. After more thought, I suppose a third option is to leave quotes to the technicians and leave their phone people out of that discussion.

I felt mislead and taken advantage of. Avery will NOT get any more of my business. Nor, will I recommend them to anyone.
