I signed up to be an Avon Representative to order things at a discount and to make a little money on the side. Needless to say there is no way you can make any money at this! The District Managers DO NOT EVEN SELL AVON!!! If that tells you anything.
My trouble started back in the Summer of 2007. I had placed a small order to Avon for some customers. When the order was to be shipped, it was on hold, this went on for 3 campaigns!! For those of you that are not familiar with this, a campaign is every other week, so by the time 3 campaigns had passed it was already over a month and a half since these customers placed their orders with me! Why was my order on hold you might ask? I have no idea! No one at Avon could figure it out either. After speaking with a "customer care representative" yet again about this, I was informed that my order would be cancelled and to place it again. Which I did and when the order finally did ship, it was three shipments of the same order!! Needless to say, I pulled what I could sell to those customers that were being kind enough to be patient with me and sent the rest back to AVON!! (Which included perfumes for the lady that was having trouble sending that back via UPS.) My account was credited and then mysteriously charged back an amount with no explanation as to why. I contacted my upline and district manager, Avon's customer care representative on NUMEROUS occassions about this charge back since October 2007. (I have kept the e-mail trail from all of that to prove my attempts at resolving this should I be taken to court!) It is now MAY 2008 and there is still no resolution despite the answers I was receiving by the list of people mentioned above.
In the many attempts to try and rectify the problem and figure out what happened, I began making small monthly payments to keep this from going onto my credit report while Avon sorted out the problem. I never received anything further!! No detailed explanation, receipt of payments received, I got nothing for my effort in trying to work with the company! Each time I called I was informed that I needed to make a larger monthly payment to Avon while Avon was making the determination of what was going on with my account to ensure that it would not damage my credit. I still have no idea what was charged back or the reason anything was charged back to my account, so I stopped making payments back in January 2008. I never received or heard anything further from Avon.
Yesterday I recieve a call from Allied Data Corp. advising me that they had an affidavit against me and either my attorney or myself needed to contact them immediately. There is no other identifying information to clue me in on what it was about or even if they had the right person! So, I go ahead and attempt to contact them as I was "advised" to do. The person that answered the phone informed me that I would have to call back tomorrow between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - A 3 HOUR WINDOW!! Don't we all wish we had those hours?
I decided to try to see if the company had a webpage or a way of contacting them over the internet to determine what this call was about and this website pops up and I realize that I am not the only one that has been victimized by AVON!
I appreciate this website and the information posted to make the general public aware of unsavvy business practices. I will research thoroughly any and all companies I may consider doing business with after this nightmare.
Please keep in mind that you can request a copy of your credit report and if Avon has reported negatively, you can dispute the validity of the debt and it will be marked as disputed on your report.
I would also advise anyone that is having this type of difficulty with Avon or any company to file a report not only with the Better Business Bureau in your area but also with your local consumer protection agency.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
something is fishy
AUTHOR: Nancy - (U.S.A.)

You said that you places a SMALL order? When you finaly got it, and got paid from your customers, why didn't you sned the money to Avon? If it was a small order, that should not have been a problem. I suspect youa re leaving some stuff out, especially when you mentioned about the woman and the perfumes. (noone orders more than one). I suspect you got caught up in a scam. My daughter sells avon and I asked her about the scams. She said that Avon sends you emails warning about the scams. She got one of those orders for $700 worth of perfume. Fortunately, I raised her to have some common sense and she did not fullfill the order. She snet back an email stating that if they wnated or order tha much they would have to use a credit card and have the product send directly to them. Then, a month later, she got another email with the exact same wording and the exact same name. She sent email back that said, "this is the smae letter you sent last month. You could be a little more creative." she has nto heard back.
I suspect that you fell for it.
