I use to sell AVON products...three years ago actually.  For the record, I never recieved any letter or e-mail of any kind, notifying me that I owed anything to AVON.  As far as I was informed, all my payments with AVON were up to date.

One day I had recieved a phone call from AVON's collection agency, informing me I owed X amount of dollars and if I didn't pay it that day, then they were going to take me to court, so they told me that either I or my lawyer needed to contact them by 5 o'clock...so I contacted the lady at the agency and she told me that AVON would be wiling to settle for $98.00 and that would pay my account fully off.  So I gave her my credit card number and paid it, and in return, I asked for a letter or email of confirmation, confirming that my account was paid off.  Which by the way, i never recieved an email or letter stating that my account was paid off.  All the proof I have is the bank statement.

Not even a week later, I was contacted once more by their collections agency, this time by someone completely different.  Well, when I had initially "paid" my account off, I had written down the name of the rep that I had spoke with, along with the extension number, phone number etc.  The new person contacting me, informed me that i still owed $114.00 and that I need to pay that immediately or legal action would be taken.  I told him who i had talked to the week before, and he informed me that the rep I had spoke with was previously no longer with their company.

And i said "Well, that's unfortunate...however they were with your company at the time and that was what i was told, so I think you should honor that.".  The new rep told me he would look into it and investigate it and would give me a call back, but  if I needed to get in touch with him here's where I needed to call and his extension, so on and so forth. Well, needless to say I never got a hold of him again and still to this day i've no recieved a phone call from the collection agency.  This has been almost two years ago.

I gave AVON a call  today and they informed me that since they passed my account on to their collection agency, they were unable to pull up any information on my account.  I spoke to two different people, and i will admit I got pretty hot headed with the second person i talked to, and told them it must be nice to milk and cheat people for all the money they can, and that they needed to get a new collection agency because theirs sucked.

All I want to do, is pay my bill off (If i still owe them something), and be done with them.  I leave them alone, they leave me alone.  My biggest fear is that they'll come back at me in like 14 years and say "Oh, well, you also owe us 25% interest, on top of what you owed AVON"....what's the solution here?  Can anyone help me?
