After the Katrina hurricane in New Orleans we have been devastated financially and emotionally from the aftermath. Then Bank of America came into play in this area knowing the financial hardship we are having. I call it "hook and bait." They are taking advantage of this situation by offering these extremely high credit limits to people that would not turn it down
being hard pressed financially after the hurricane.

I was an MBNA customer previously when BANK OF AMERICA took them over.
They called me stating the account was under BANK OF AMERICA now and offered a credit limit that was over twice what I had previously with MBNA at a promotional offer of 3.99 percent on transfers for one year. In hardship I did transfer some balances over to this account.

When the year was up I had accumulated approximately $19,000. in debt and the interest went up to 13.99 percent. I called the office asking them to please lower the interest on this high amount since the interest would approximately run over $ 230. a month before I could pay on principal. I asked for advice on what to do and stated I was considering consumer credit
counseling.

I have never been late or slow on any payment for 15+ years and have a good credit rating. The customer service representative closed the account as we were talking and stated I didn't need credit anyway. She was rude and uncaring. I felt humiliated.

I called for a supervisor to complain and was told it would take 24 HOURS to talk to a supervisor. When I finally was able to talk to a supervisor a day
and a half later, there was not much regard for my case. My account is closed and I have to "sink or swim" to pay this account off.

Oh yes, they did call and ask my opinion of BANK OF AMERICA. The questions were on a scale of 1 to 10. After I told the rep my opinion, he said someone would call in a few days. NO ONE DID!

I have never used credit counseling or bankruptcy but BANK OF AMERICA PUT ME OVER THE EDGE. THEY USED A TRAGEDY LIKE HURRICAINE KATRINA TO ENTICE PEOPLE INTO DEBT! THEY ARE RUTHLESS AND A THREAT TO THE CONSUMER! BEWARE OF BANK OF AMERICA!

I just read that BANK OF AMERICA has just increased the atm fees to $3.00 and the other banks are watching this also to see if they can follow in their footsteps.

MY God! The government needs to step in and regulate these credit card companies before the consumers go under with late fees, crippling interest and bankruptcy!
