I did an install at two Smith's stores (owned by Kroger's) and they refused to pay because I had a technological problem with uploading the pictures that I took of the install within 12 hours.  It took me until the next morning at 10AM to get the pictures uploaded and they refused to pay me the $280 that they promised and that I bid for and negotiated with them for these two jobs!

Even though I did the actual work correctly and took all the pictures that were needed, thus fulfilling the terms of the contract, they said that I violated another clause that said that I have to upload the pictures within 12 hours.  Unfortunately, I had problems with Google pictures and their server was not uploading my pictures from my phone but this is actually not a critical error as far as the project is concerned because the person in charge of these installs did not come in until the next morning anyway, when I uploaded them.

Since most techs are not lawyers and most business is not done this way because of customer relationship management and relations with contractors is an important aspect of a legitamate company. This company has a pattern of continually not paying their contractors or paying them late or taking money out for frivolous reasons.  Most companies work with their contractors to facilitate their mission but I think their mission is seeing how many people that they can cheat money out of.

This is probably what the future is coming to with these companies using the 'contractor' model rather than hiring people and taking taxes out like they should.  Most of these 'jobs' the workers are not really contractors because they do not deal with the customer directly, but in this case, the middleman cheats the 'contractors'!  This company is the worst example of a national service company that continually cheats people by the hundreds and somehow gets away with it.  Doesn't Louisiana have any laws against this type of company?

Resolution to payment concern

AUTHOR: Barrister Global Services Network - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Barriser values its field technicians and does its best to comply with all payment terms. There are many factors that can impact the processing of a payment.  In the case of a technician, it may be that we are waiting for the proper information or for the part to be returned.  Many factors beyond our control can result in small delays in payments.  Our policy is to pay our technicians promptly and correctly.

We're sorry that you experienced difficulty uploading the photos from this job and sorting out this issue with the company.  Please email the COO of the company, John Bowers, for a resolution to this issue (jbowers@barrister.com).  Thank you and we hope to resolve your payment issue as soon as possible.
