21 daY PAYOUT IS TIMELY?

AUTHOR: John - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, September 03, 2014

To quote Barrister, "Payments are generally prepared approximately 21 days following the receipt of all documentation and information from technician closing the call."

Do you really think a 21 day wait for payment on a closed call is timely, fair, and professional?  And that's assuming you actually get paid.  As techs, we are expected to be onsite in about a day after accepting a call.  Why is the Barrister payroll department exempt from a similar obligation?

Barrister is not a scam.

AUTHOR: Barrister Administration - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, April 17, 2013

We are not scam artists.  We have policies and procedures in place to protect our customers and the level of service they receive.  We appreciate the services provided by independent contractor technicians, like yourself, and there would be no benefit to us by punishing any technician.  We understand that techs work for money, and that sometimes a payment is not received as expected.  We are committed to investigating those and trying to resolve.  We would not be in business very long if we do the things listed in these posts.

Please understand that what is posted on the internet is not fact it is merely some individuals opinion.  We work with thousands of technicians nationwide.  If a handful post something negative, that is their prerogative to do as we live in a country that allows free speech.

We are a company conducting business using the services of independent contractors.  We want to work with you and we want to resolve the issue.

Our pay issues department does have a telephone.  The phone number is 985-365-0400 ext 150.  I am glad you finally received your payment and I can assure you it had nothing to do with you filing with the BBB.  Again, thank you for working with us.

My outcome

AUTHOR: Tech0101 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 24, 2013

I too am from the Scranton , PA area.  I wanted you all to know that after filing a complaint with BBB online I recieved all monies that were owed to me by Barrister THE NEXT DAY!  Of course they claimed that I didn't file paperwork correctly, etc (fortunately I had all the copies of the sent emails {which are conviently dated} and other proof).

I think it's funny how they have a standarized response telling you to contact the pay department (which conviently doesn'thave a phone) by email only.

Funny follow up (an example of how well organized this comapny is), I filed my complaint on Wedneday, Thursday I got an email saying my money was being deposited.  Monday I got a phone call from Barrister (on my business line) asking if I would be interested in doing sub-contracting warranty work for them.  I said I was already in their system and gave my ID number.  After a few min. on hold the woman returned saying that I was deactivated and not allowed to be activated again as instructed by their CEO (I did leave a message on his machine asking where my pay was PRIOR to contacting the BBB).

Oh well, I say let the company's actions speak for itself.

field tech

AUTHOR: bob feder - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, January 12, 2013

Its true they use every excuse not to pay techs You have to send in an reort of work done on site of customer within 10 days otherwise they will not pay you. I sent in my last reort the same day and they said it was beyond the ten days and wont pay me. what I will do now is charge $ a igher price to do a service call to make up the lost amount . If all techs prior and current do this our salary will go up and they may do something. Another alternative is take the company they did the repair for to small claims and get the momey off them . If you loose at least that company will know that they are ripping off the techs. So lets all charge $150 minimun for a service call it works.

Just filed complaint BBB

AUTHOR: Tech0101 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 08, 2013

As a subcontractor, I am not an employee but rather a seperate entity that Barrister must pay for services rendered.  Under this classification, I have just filed a complaint with the BBB online for failure to pay and for charging me for service NOT rendered (13% fee for speed pay).  Also in my case Barrister issued themselved a credit on a past job on my current payment (when contacted they said the paymnent was a mistake, they never recieved the RFS.... good thing i still had it and a copy of the sent email with it attached).

I highly encourage any other Techs who have experienced the same type of experiences to do the same.  We are not employees, they hire us to do work and fail to pay.

Also I have reached out to hp/ compaq to give them a full account of my experience and what end users are saying to me about hp (end user knows nothing of barrister).  The repercussions of not paying their bills will have an impact on the future of Barrister.

Childish name calling (as I have seen in some forums) will do nothing but feed the ego of the author.  To truely stop this corrupt company from taking advantage of people, hurt them in the wallet.

Thank you

#6 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Thousand technicians, hundreds of complaints.

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, September 13, 2012

I am an ex employee of this rag-tag chop shop they call Barrister. They claim to work with thousands of technicians yet they have hundreds of complaints. Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, hundreds of times is obviously a pattern. Just Google Barrister complaints. Barrister must slither around in gutters and sewers to find their collection of uneducated, rude, and obnoxious staffers. Especially those disgusting idiots in their so called payroll. Yes you Becca Edwards! John Bowers is the so called President and uses his ugly wife as the front person to keep it going as a "woman owned" company. He is a coward and the kingpin of this crap company.

The only reason they don't have a BBB complaint is because the BBB does not do employee to employer disputes. They are strictly consumer to company. Trust me. Barrister will delay paying you as long as they can just so they can find any stupid reason not to pay you.

Pay Issues

AUTHOR: BarristerAdmin - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, August 31, 2012

Paying technicians promptly and correctly is a priority for our company.  Payments are generally prepared approximately 21 days following the receipt of all documentation and information from technician closing the call.  Technicians must call from site to close calls, return parts correctly and fax or scan the signed receipt for service.  Once those simple steps are followed, payment is made to technicians.  Barrister maintains an email address, payissues@barrister.com, which is monitored and answered daily.  If a tech has a problem with payment, of any kind, he should email this address stating the work order number in question and a brief description of his issue.  He will receive an answer within 5 business days.

Interesting how their rebuttal police seem to be on standby.

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 07, 2012

I find it all to interesting that Barrister has a rebuttal committee monitoring their daily internet complaints. FYI officer rebuttal, an honest, reputable organization would properly onboard and train technicians to prevent some mundane bs oversight from happening in the first place. Furthermore, they would work with that employee to ensure that oversight or mistake does not happen in the future. I do agree that there are consequences, but the one thing an honest company would not do is steal an employees hard earned money!

We Pay Technicians

AUTHOR: Barrister Administration - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, March 01, 2012

I am sorry a former employee would report false accusations. Barrister works with thousands of technicians and has regulatory procedures in place for the protection of Barrister and its customers. Barrister representatives speak with every technician who is assigned a job and all throughout the process.  If a technician fails to follow the procedure, there are penalties, just like with any and every other job.

And They Are Not Going To Pay Either...

AUTHOR: Labrian - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 29, 2012

I use to work for barrister as a "tech". They have the  so called HR rep or one or their overpaid "assistants" to go and respond to any bad reports online with the same message, to send any reports to payissues@barrister.com. Truth be told is that they encourage the techs in the call center to not pay the technicians on site for any and everything possible. I suggest anyone who even thinks about working for this company stay FAR away.
