I have never signed up for a website just to leave a review, but my experience has been so horrible with this company, I feel like I need to prevent others from the same stressful situation I went through.

I have used BC Alberta Movers twice in the past year to move between Vancouver and Edmonton. My first move with them occurred in September 2012. I was extremely dissatisfied with their service, when the company that BC Alberta Movers sub-contracted to move my stuff refused to unload my items until I paid nearly $300 more than the contract called for. When I told the manager at BC Alberta Movers about how I was forced to pay this extra amount, he acted apologetic, but would not refund me the extra payment. He did assure me though that if I would give them another chance on my next move, he would use his men for the job and not contract out to the same company.

This led to me calling BC Alberta Movers again when I needed to move back to Vancouver in April 2013. BIG MISTAKE!!! Again, BC Alberta Movers assured me that my move would go smoother this time and that they are sending their "best guys" for the job. They even gave me a discounted rate. Over the phone I explained to the manager that I was moving the exact same load as I came with in September and was just including a couch (the discounted price was the same rate as my move to edmonton, so shoud have only costed less than $100 extra for the couch). I then listed all the items that I had in detail. He then sent me a contract immediately, which I signed and sent back. On the contract there was a very small list of the larger items in the load and the price was the same as my original move. Having just spoke with him, I assumed that he was just listing the larger of the items, but I only found out that this was not the case when the movers came to pick up my stuff and charged me about $300 more to take the rest of my load. He denied ever hearing my full list of items, even though I have another person that was listening to the conversation I had with him when I made the original call. The added frustration came when I witnessed complete recklessness and negligence from his movers while they were loading my items onto the back of their truck. From my window I watched as they threw a bag filled with a coffee maker, expensive blender, and printer on top of an industrial garbage bin. Then, while pulling their truck forward, they knocked down the garbage bin. After about 10 minutes of watching from the window, they had still not picked up the bag from the ground or even looked to see if anything was broken from it. Moreover, I witnessed one of the movers kicking the bag over to the side of the street - Not picking it up and moving it over, but kicking it! Not only was someone at the window with me witnessing all of this, but the doorman of my building also witnessed all of this. The bag was picked up by myself after I had enough with the situation and went outside to pick it up and check the contents. The coffee maker and printer were completely cracked and broken. I had been talking to the movers when they first arrived about my past experience and they assured me that they take the greatest of care with their customer's items. When I told one of the movers about the broken items he frustratingly told me that he'd give me something to compensate. This was the point when their true colours came out. They were no longer the friendly, customer-focused movers that I first met. They ended up only compensating me $50 for the items (they only offered $25 at first and "stretched" it to $50 after I complained more).

The next issue came when my stuff was delivered in Vancouver. The movers informed us that they broke a bed frame, but offered no compensation. The next day I looked through all of the stuff in more detail and found that many of the boxes and items came back with large puncture holes in them and the bottom of my dresser had a huge crack in the wood and is no longer useable. This just further illustrates the carelessness of this company and how their customer service is just a front. So just to recap, the items broken from this move were a printer, a coffee machine, a bed frame and a dresser. and all I received was $50!!! I was convinced to buy extra insurance, but there was a $350 deductable, which is slightly larger than the total damage. When I purchased this insurance, the mover said that he takes pride in his customer service and reputation so even if there is a small amount of damage he would give the customer something to help compensate. $50 is just insulting.

WARNING TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! You really get what you pay for. The customer service is great until it costs them money, at which point they completely shut you out. Do not listen to them when they say that they have the best men in the business. Their movers are careless and take extremely poor care of your items when they think you are not looking. I have had two experiences with this company and have had issues with the quality and integrity of the company both times!
