I bought a vacation to Ireland through Fantastic Vacations - Texas Branch of Bear Country Vacations on eBay in 2004. I never received my vacation or a refund from them. While attempting to make a new RRF (as my initial RRF was denied - all 3 dates submitted - and now my Vacation package is about to expire) I discover the internet address doesn't work, so I Google it and discovered all these complaints on "Ripoff Report". This is how I learned that the Company is out of business and ripped off so many people - I am sooo incredibly angry right now! The trip back in 2004 was for my honeymoon, so not only did we NOT get to go to Ireland for our Honeymoon because "the dates selected were not available", now we won't get to go for our 5 year Anniversary!!! I am flippin mad and completely disappointed.
June 4, 2004 I paid $124.00 to Fantastic Vacations for the eBay purchase via PayPal.
June 8, 2004 I received a letter in the mail stating that Fantastic Vacations handled the sales portion of my vacation while Bearcountry Vacations handled the reservations.
June 10, 2004 I paid a deposit of $320.00 to Bearcountry Vacations via Visa Debit card. I completed the RRF - Reservation Request Form and then after many many emails and phone calls (from June - September) was denied all 3 dates requested. So now it's September, just a few weeks before getting married and we do not have our Honeymoon destination confirmed. We end up staying in the States and missed out on our dream vacation. So we decided to wait until our 5 year Anniversary to go. So here it is... Feb. 2009, I figure there's plenty of advanced planning if I re-schedule the trip now, for travel in September. Surprise! I got duped. I never received any notification from anyone that Bearcountry Vacations/Fantastic Destinations was going out of business. I can't believe that it's now 5 years later and I'm just finding out!!!
I submitted a complaint to the BBB of CA. I'm hoping for a positive response, but am willing to continue to pursue this further if necessary.
Gives new meaning to "Buyer Beware".

I was also ripped off by these people. Long story short: I also bought a trip to Ireland from "cybergetaways" on E-Bay. They said nothing about any other parties involved. Anyway, I bought from cybergetaways who bought from Jand J wholesalers who bought from Bear Country. When the time came for me to leave, I was told that Bear Country went bankrupt (which didn't bother me at first because I didn't buy from them). Cybergetaways told me that I was S.O.L. (even though they were and still are in business, and they are who owe me). I disputed this transaction with PAYPAL ,and they just dismissed it and never did anything about it. I was contacted by Bear Country and they gave me their "lawyer's" contact info. Turns out, he was also bogus. (My ripoff report is on here somewhere.) All you can do, is what I am doing: Every day I get on E-bay and find people who are bidding on cybergetaways vacations, and I send them a link to this page as well as a description of my experience. I have gotten a lot of emails thanking me for giving them the heads-up. It helps me out tremendously to know how many people I have saved from this same fate. So be proactive, tell anyone who will listen, and hit em where it hurts.
