In June 2006 I had initally reported to the better busniess bureau a local Mitsubishi Dealership that totally destroyed my vehicle and refused to remedy the situation. I was then told to submitt any supporting documentation about my claim. I sent photos of the vehicle they destroyed, email correspondence from the dealership manager, parts manager and bodyshop manager as well as my attorney to myself and from my attorney to the dealership. Just a littel to explain this. I had brought my Mitsubishi Eclipse to the dealership to have the convertible top replaced. The dealership proceeded to tear the interior of my vehicle (so badly it would have to be reupohlstered) and broke 2 windows. They said they would repair this out of their own pockets because it was their fault. Within 2 weeks of them having my vehicle, they called and said my engine needed to ne replaced... NOT REPAIRED but replaced. I had just had the engine serviced and there were absolutely NO problems with it..... when I said I didnt want to replace it because there was no need to incur the 3500 dollar expense, my vehicle was totally trashed, oily parts thrown in the glove compartment, on the seats (that were destroyed) and then left my vehicle out inthe rain to flood since they didnt reoplace the top OR the windows. The lady at the BBB said that since the dealership responded that the case was closed and that they would nnot persue anythng further because the dealership said they would pay for damages. They did not do so, and when I contacted the person handling the case she said that nothing else could be done even ifthey refused to pay the damges. It seems that the BBB works more for the Companies they endorse than the consumers they screw over.

The best way to tell what side the BBB is working for is to look at the number of complaints on this site against Portfolio Recovery Associates, a notorious abuser of consumer rights, and the rating the BBB gives them, an A+. 'nuff said.

I get what you are saying, you complain and they do nothing for you. The business goes on without a blemish on their record.
But they don't do it for the business, they don't care about the businesses either. They do it because the businesses pays their salary. They don't make money from consumers, you don't pay anything. But businesses pay lots of money to be a member every year. And you can bet that when a complaint comes up against them they get some pressure from the BBB to renew their membership.
The BBB is a business, and if they don't satisfy their customers (other businesses) they will soon be out of business themselves. Just like you talk with family and friends when you are unhappy with a business, business owners talk with other owners and the BBB doesn't want a bad reputation- from businesses of course, they couldn't care less about you because you aren't their customer.
The BBB is nothing but a scam. They scam consumers, and scam businesses as well. They don't do anything for either side... they are basically worthless.
Most people don't even check with the BBB before doing business with a company, it's usually done AFTER they have done business and have a problem. Which doesn't matter anyway, since the BBB rarely reports against any businesses. Unless of course you aren't yet a member of the BBB, then they will contact you about the complaint and ask if you want to be a member of the BBB. You can be sure that they will follow up on this complaint- they are going to keep bugging this company until they get a response, and hopefully a membership fee out of them!
They don't even explain how they give their ratings. They say it's based on many things, time in business, complaints, resolutions, blah blah blah. Yet it's pretty common to see businesses with NO complaints and have been in business longer than others, but have a lower score than those who are members of the BBB (even those members with complaints). I guess you start out with a C and after time become an A if you have no complaints. But if you are a member, you must start out with an A and as long as you pay your fees and don't get too many complaints you will stay an A. You may get a B if you get too many complaints.
The BBB is going down...lol. They are useless, even if you check out a company it doesn't tell you enough about them to make a decision. They scam customers and scam businesses for money.
So there you go, they aren't doing it for the companies, they are doing it for the money.
(Hey, did I say "business" enough?)
