I attended a Better Trades workshop to see if I could earn a little extra money for my family. I had limited success in trading stocks on my own, so I thought I would attend the invitation. Needless to say, they present a very convincing proposal. They don't disclose the fact that after you sign up for this program (about $1,000 deposit, then over$100. a month for a few years) they have you attend a meeting a few days later, and it is then that they drop the bomb. The sales pitch went something like this: "You can build a house with a hammer and nails, or you can use a nail gun; instructions scribbled on post-it notes, or a professional blueprint" Of course they say you are not required to purchase these 'tools' that will insure your success, but it is strongly recommended ( the 'tools' consist of programs like 'real time stock market' analysis. stock market programs, etc....the cost of the tools? over $5,000).
I had expressed my concerns to one of the sales guys before signing up, told him I already worked 2 jobs, didn't have a big savings account, etc., but of course they just want to rope you in, and I ended up signing with the devil. I couldn't afford to purchase the tools, but gave it my best effort for over 3 months, and it is difficult to learn. I never made any money, spent thousands (when my AMEX card got maxed out I couldn't make the monthly payment anymore, I had creditors calling me. 8 YEARS LATER they are still harassing me and trying to destroy my credit. When I tried to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, of course Better Trades gets to respond; they never addressed the fact that they don't disclose the extra money people will be pressured to invest. They merely stated that I "signed a contract with them", and therefore was breaking my agreement. I would really like to know how many people actually succeed at this. I am willing to bet it is a very small percentage. This company needs to be stopped. They are making millions of dollars, no doubt, and scamming hard working people every day. Worst decision I ever made!!
