In September of 2005 I was forced to trade my new Hyundai Sonata in because of a severe finacial situation I encountered. I required surgery and needed money. Alan Carter, a salesperson at Brad Benson, took my Sonata in as a trade and sold me a 2002 Hyundai Elantra that he stated was just received that very day. After considerable thought, I decided to take the Elantra.

Mr. Carter promised that since the car had NEVER been brought through their maintenance check before the sale, that he would insure that all problems with the car were fixed. The car had many problems which I listed on a sheet of paper. Tires were completely bald, control arms were bad, lights were oput, brakes were very bad, needed paint job, car had never been detailed.

Every time I brought the car in to get things fixed, I was told that they had tyo order parts and I would have to leave the car for a couple of days. The only thing that the maintenance department did was to replace the tires, the other items are still not done, ie the control arms. I just had to spend $635. to replace the brakes, pads, rotors and calipers.

I made numerous attempts to contact Mr. Carter by phone, I left several messages for him as well as their "consumer complaints" department, none of whom ever returned my calls. My finacial situation has gotten alot worse and I spent money to fix the brakes that was intended for my rent, now I have to deal with my landlord.

My biggest complaint, besides Brad Benson not fisxing anything, is the lack of any kind of respose by anyone at the dealership. The car still needs to be fixed, painted and I've reached the end of my rope in trying to contact these people.

A real dumb move

AUTHOR: R - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 11, 2006

This appears to be a ridiculous move. How much could you have possibly saved on this deal?

1. They most likely low-balled you on the trade and
2. Porked you really good on the 2002

So what was the net difference?

Dumb move

Well, if you read my whole story, you would have seen that there were promises made to me to have this car fixed. May have been a dumb move, but also, if you read the whole story, you would have seen that I was in a desperate situation!!

If you knew the car had all these problems, why did you still buy it?

Take a look in the mirror. The person you see is the only person you can rely on, nobody else. If someone says they'll do something for you, take it with a grain of salt.
