I purchased a full blooded Yorkshire Terrier from Breeder Network in April of 2011. She is now 2 1/2 years old and experiences Seizures due to a recently confirmed liver shunt. She has had seizures since about a month after we purchased her. My Vet suggested that I attempt to contact the breeder to see about getting a refund. The surgery that our little Lucy needs is in excess of $3000.00. We paid $1500.00 for a dog that was supposedly a $2500.00 dog. Her insurance wouldn't have kicked in until 2 weeks after her first seizure; which means that it would not have covered her condition. So when she had her first seizure, which made her temporarily blind scared us horribly. At the time, the old Breedernetwork website was still functioning and even had a 1 800 number to contact them. I was told at the time that a Liver Shunt would not kill the dog and that their "warranty" wouldn't apply unless the animal died from the congential defect. Of course the warranty was only for a year, which means we seem to be SOL.
We fell in love with this animal, the first week we had her. So everytime she experiences a seizure all we can do is hold her and hope that it passes quickly At this point, I'm probably going to have the surgery done, but it angers me to no end that I couldn't get assistance from this company that apparently keeps changing their website to prevent being prosecuted for bad service, animals, and out and out lies. I could make this a very long email, but won't. I just want to say that these people should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and be forced to suffer like the animals that they foist on innocent people looking for loving pets. There is no guarantee that the surgery will be successful and our Lucy may well die on the operating table, that is why I have resisted doing this for so long. But several days ago, she had three Grand Mal Seizures in 2 1/2 days. I can't bear to see her go through another one, but can't do anything until after the first of the year. If anyone that reads this has had similar experiences with this heartless company please respond and maybe we can finally get these people put in jail, where they all belong, including the breeders they use.
