DO NOT BUY FROM BRILLIANCE!!! They have committed fraud and a breach of contract with our custom built diamond ring. We received the ring after a lengthy period of waiting as Jonathon made excuses as to why it was not sent.

Upon receiving the ring, we immediately noticed the centre diamond which was a .70 carat was CHIPPED, and that there were deep tool marks/scratches on the band of the ring. We promptly sent an email to Jonathon notifying him of our findings and concerns with the ring and that we were taking the ring to 2 accredited appraisers/jewellers to have it examined and assessed immediately. Both of the appraisers confirmed that the diamond was indeed chipped and that the ring had tool marks/scratches.

In addition, the 10 side diamonds were only 0.85 ct. and NOT a 1.0 ct. as we had purchased. These were NOT the E color and VS1 clarity as we had selected and purchased, but only G/H in color and SI1 in clarity (significantly lower in value and appearance-lower grade diamonds!).

The appraiser took pictures of the chipped centre diamond, and these were sent to Jonathon at Brilliance. The ring was sent back to Brilliance for warranty replacement at their request. Jonathon now falsely ACCUSES the certified appraiser of removing the centre diamond and damaging the diamond and the ring. The diamond was never removed from the setting to assess the damaged stone, and the pictures clearly show the chip with the diamond in the setting.

There are other facts and details which are not in this report to keep it as brief as possible. We have only outlined the main points.

Brilliance refuses to build us a new ring. They have our money and our ring, which constitutes theft. Be warned as we are not the first to fall victim to their tactics!!! DO NOT BUY FROM BRILLIANCE!

Another similar bad experience at Brilliance.com

Here is a similar situation that I have had.  He didn't take of me either.  Here are the emails. Actually, he took my criticisising posts of his business practices and posted defamation of character comments.  Please read and beware!  This was a purchase that wasn't made right for over a year, and when I called him out on the internet he threatened me.  He still has my money and hasn't procvided the finished product I ordered.
 
Telling you that I will be moving forward to protect my purchase through legal counseling, better business bureau and website complaints is neither harassment, nor threatening.  Those are terrible accusations that I will not accept.  You are supposed to be a first class businessman.  All I've ever asked for is my order completed as I placed it.  For a year you haven't done that, but kept my money.  Now I want a refund per our past discussion. No phone conversation is needed.  Just be ethical and do what's right please.  You have caused a great deal of sadness and anxiety in our home.

It's unfortunate that your online experience was less than you anticipated it would be.  Caution is always the rule when shopping for anything online, especially something as important as an engagement ring.  Did you ever resolve your issue with Brilliance?  And more importantly, are you now happily married with a new ring?  Who do you recommend locally for an engagement ring?  Cheers.

The Jeweler who examined the center diamond for the customer damaged it and then blamed Brilliance. Additionally both "Gemologists" that reviewed the ring could not properly grade the side diamonds as they were channel set in the ring (there is no way you can know the total weight of side diamonds without weighing them). So our question is if Brilliance is so bad why would Mr. Chaput want to have us make him another ring? 

Custom Ring jobs can take longer than most normal settings to complete, while we do apologize for the wait time we also spent a few days trying to figure out shipping schedules with the customers due to their only being available certain days of the week for home delivery. 

Also, upon completion and delivery of the ring to Mr. Chaput He responded to us with this email:

Thank you for sending the invoice today. I printed it off and took it to Customs for clearance.

Brilliance prides itself on quality, no ring or loose stone leaves our offices if it is not exactly up to the standard that it should be. 

Brilliance has offered to completely refund the custom ring and center diamond to no avail. Mr. Chaput has stated he would rather place bad reviews online instead.
