I was wondering if anyone that has been contacted by this obvious scammer has actually kept the check for themselves and not sent the money to them? If so let me know because I have a notion to just keep the 2990 they sent me and consider myself a true winner?

The signature is invalid or the whole check is forged.

Either way, it won't be funded by the issuing bank, and any funds deposited into your account will be returned. If you've withdrawn any, you will end up with a negative balance and suffer any overdraft fees.

The money is not yours. The money does not belong to the person trying to scam you.

Passing a bad check is a crime, regardless of where the check originated.

Keep the check if you want, but in a picture frame on the wall.
