 My Hot Water Heater started leaking late Sunday evening. I made calls Monday morning, Brothers was the first one available to come out. Tech made it out at 130pm gave estimate of $1962.00. I asked for the cost on Water Heater, he said there was not a break down, they lump all together, and repair had to become code enforced. He said job would take 3-4 hours.

This is a appliance that is hard to live with out, and get bids on.

I questioned him several times on my feelings that repair seemed high, he said that Brothers has been in business for over 30 yrs.

I researched on the internet while he was doing the repair, I feel that I overpaid $1000.00 to at least $700.00.

I went on there website, they have an awful amount of complaints on overcharging.

 Dear Ma’am or Sir. 

Based on the information you provided we were able to research your call.  I can appreciate your feelings about the cost of what you had done.  Unfortunately, these are never things that we want to spend money on.  I’m sorry you didn’t see the value for the work that we provided you.  I’d like to take a moment to explain.

We have been in business for 33 years.  We are members of the BBB with an A Rating.  We are also a member of Tom Martino’s referral list.    We are a very reputable company.  We do not claim to be the cheapest company in the Denver area, but we do offer value and a good service for the work that you had done that you don’t find with those that charge less.

As you mentioned, we were the first one available to take care of you and fix the appliance that is hard to live without.  We offered you convenience on Monday that other companies that may have charged less did not offer.  Based on our records, you did call us at 9:26am.  We booked your service for between 2-4pm that same afternoon.  We did call you early, at 12:18pm to let you know that we could come early.  We arrived at your house at 12:58pm and left at 5:40pm.  

You did pay $1,962.00 for the work that the technician performed.  The technician did perform more than a standard installation of a water heater that you researched online.  We want to make sure that you are making apples to apples comparison.    These are the technician’s notes about work done: “Installed 40 gallon gas water heater with six-year warranty. Rework waterlines as necessary to install new water flexes and ball valve to shut water heater off. Also installed new gas shut off and gas Install code required pan and piped outside of home. All tested okay.” The technician was onsite for 4 hours and 45 minutes.  The work that he did includes a 6 year warranty on the tank, labor and all of the parts. 

You don’t have to worry about this fixture for a full 6 years.  Most companies offer a 1 year warranty on parts and labor.  If something goes wrong in the next 6 years, we will fix it at no charge!  And because we’ve been in business for so long, you can trust that we will be here in the future to honor that guarantee.   We are also licensed and insured for your peace of mind to make sure that if anything happens you will be taken care of.   We also performed the work so that your water heater is up to code.  We also pulled a permit that is required by law.  Not all companies do all of these things and as a result charge less.  

 In addition, our technicians are drug tested, background checked so you don’t have to worry about having them in your home.  Our technicians also come in a fully stocked truck so we had the water heater you needed without having to run and get it, which saved you time!  We answer our phones live 7 days a week and run service calls 7 days a week and in the evenings without charging you overtime as well.

 We did call you at 5:5pm after the job was complete to perform “Happy Check” follow up call.  We left you a message without a returned phone call so we are unaware of any concerns you had about the service we performed.

 Companies that charge less do not offer the conveniences and the services that we do and do not offer the guarantees.  They may not perform the work up to code or pull the required permits and have the required inspections done for your safety.
