Beware of sick puppies!!!! My husband and I bought a puppy on Valentines Day from Brushy Creek Kennel. On the way home she was very lathargic, but we assumed she was sleepy. When we arrived home she would not eat, drink, and barely move at all. She would drink a little and then vomit everywhere. The next morning she would not even get off her bed. She was very lathargic by then and had uncontrolable bowel movements and was constantly vomiting.

I called my vet that morning and described the symptoms she was having and they asked me how old she was and i told them she was nine weeks old. They told me to bring her in immediatly it sounds like the symptoms of Parvo. When I took her in they immediatly did blood work to see what was wrong with her. They confirmed that our puppy had Parvo. They told the puppy needed to stay with them under 24 hour supervision so they could give her fluids. We were so upset that we contacted the breeder at bushy creek kennel and they told us they had given the puppy the parvo vaccination and that she was probably just having a reaction to the vaccination. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone!!!!!

We confirmed with our that she did have Parvo and that she would need to stay for at least a week (200.00 a day). I then called the breeder back and told her the situation we were in. We had had the puppy for less than twenty four hours and she said to bring the puppy back and we have an onsite vet that will nurse her back to health at no charge and if the puppy died they would not refund the money but give us another dog at equal value. Are you kidding me!!!! If anyone has a similiar story please contact me. I have way more to discuss. It gets worse with lesions, infections and heartbreak!!!!!!

I have had great service from this kennel for many years

I find the above complaints about Dave and Brushy Crek Kennel strange. I have dealt with them for several years and have nothing but priase for them. I have had cavaliers and english cockers from them and they have been remarkable and healthy and well-tempered. Every single one of them have integrated perfectly into my family and bonded within a few short hours as they adjusted to new surroundings.

I was allowed to see the whole operation and found the dogs well cared for and excellent facilities. The fact hat a dog developed parvo is irrelevant. This is a virus and there is no way to prevent it from happening. I care for my animals as well as anyone that I have ever met and over the past 15 years or so have had two incidences. I had a single labrador as a pet 15 years ago that got ti out of the blue which is usually the case. Then I had it strike a litter of puppies that were in the window period before they could have shot protection. These were with me in my travel trailer at the time and had no obvious exposire. This is a very good reason for not allowing people to treck back into the kennel. Many people often visit other kenels and can bring disease to the new kenel with them and totally wipe out the animals.

I even lost one mother during whelping from bleeding. This was her second litter while I owned her. David gave me a beautiful replacement and an English Cocker Spaniel who was a perfect specimen of the breed. He was not required to, he just felt sorry for me because he know that I loved the one that died so much.
I am also a breeder and have lots of knowledge with regard to the business of breeding animals. Some things that I have learned is that everyone has their own perfect opioion of how breeding should be conducted, when it should be conducted, who should be "allowed" to do it, who should decide who is allowed to do it, how facilities should be constructed, and what is and is not a puppy mill. If you have 1 acre of room for a puppy to run and play, then someone thinks you should have 5 acres; if you have 5 acres, someone will always think you should have 10. If you have more that one bred, then that is wrong somehow just because they say it is wrong. Well, I actually think that anyone that breeds puppies for sale is running a puppy mill. Some think that if you a a blue-blood and send your dogs off with a handler along with 20 other peoples dogs in a tiny kenel on the back of a truck, then you are a real animal lover and not a puppy mill. I think those folks are the worst.

I also understand the no refund policy. The contract with the kennel is a replacement warranty for a puppy of same breed/value.

People should also know that PETA does not think that anyone should be breeding dogs and have an intense effort ongoing filing frivilous complaints against anyone who does. The have made inroads by infiltrating the Humane society and have seriously damage the formerly good work of the humane society.

To the person who is too cheap to drive 2 hours to get a puppy: You are too cheap to own a puppy and would probably just buy cheap worthless food at Wal-mark. Maybe you should try something like a hamster.
