We rented a budget truck from "Fred" in Atlanta to drive to Florida - the truck had a bent frame, I reported it several times to their customer service. To make a long story short, upon arrival they siphoned gas out of the truck and backcharged me for it. I filed a local police report against them AT GREAT trouble I might add. The local authorities didn't want to take the report. I suspect the local manager is a shyster. BUT the point is the truck we rented was undriveable to begin with. bent frame, no speedometer tons of problems. When I called their 800# they wouldn't take my report after being on hold for over an hour.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

no siphoned gas

I used to be a dealer for Budget, and find it hard to believe that a dealer siphoned the gas out of a truck, being an ex dealer, almost 95% of people renting the truck are too lazy to re fuel the trucks, thats why theres a 30$ charge and at the moment a 5$ per gallon charge for not refueling, customers think well i only drove 20 miles and the needle has barley moved barley noticalbe, well not the case, that screws the next customer out of a full tank. being an ex dealer me and all the dealers i used to work with used to hate having trucks turned in not topped off, its not worth the crap we have to put up with to her your excuses and complaining or i did fill it, no you didnt dont lie, i had cameras on my lot at the entrances and would listen to peoples stories then go back to the tape to see if anyone siphoned the gas, NEVER saw one just a lazy lieing renter was all it was trying to get something for free. we dont like having to take it to the gas station to re fill its a waste of our time, its not about the money, hell budget gets it anyway, the dealer that goes and fills it makes a miesly dollar or two off it, not worth it, so just RE FILL it till the guage reads full like when u rented it, THANKS take care!

Similar Problem With Budget

I've already filed a report about one here in San Diego where the guy siphoned gas off and then charged us for it. It was only $8, but that's not the point. My girlfriend called customer service and they credited her the $8 after she said politely that she would dispute the entire charge with her credit card company. I'm sure they see this all the time.
