In the last two weeks, I have placed online orders from Bullets.com. Both times, I had an emailed receipt for my order AND a confirmation email thanking me for my purchase and including an order confirmation number. Each time, a couple of hours after receiving my cofirmation email, I received another email informing me that "due to high demand" my order has been cancelled.

The first time it happened, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but now they have done it to me twice and that is unacceptable. It's no different than if I had made a purchase at my local sporting goods store and as I'm walking out to my truck in the parking lot, a store employee grabs the merchandise out of my hand and tells me they are "cancelling" my purchase.

Really, are you kidding me? I already made the purchase. The transaction is finished and I have a receipt and a confirmation number. Needless to say, their business practices have left a bad taste in my mouth. I make online purchases all the time and I have NEVER had a merchant do this to me before. Now, bullets.com has done it twice. I won't be patronizing their website any longer and I hope whoever reads this will take my advice and avoid doing business with bullets.com.

The solution to keep your customers from getting angry is very simple. Take the website DOWN until the problem is fixed. I understand very well the shortage of .22LR ammo. I use some of these sites you refer to to notify me when an online merchant such as yourself gets some in stock. The difference is that, of the MANY online suppliers that I have purchased .22LR from, bullets.com is the ONLY one who has given me a RECEIPT AND A CONFIRMATION NUMBER at the time of purchase and then turned around an cancelled my order.

To make matters worse, you've done it to me TWICE. You can make all of the excuses you want, but you're the only one guilty of this practice. I purchase ammo from wherever it's available at a reasonable price... from large well-known retailers to small "mom and pop" websites and you are the only one who has ever done this to me.

Also, if you were really interested in being fair to your customers, you would at least keep the orders that went unfulfilled and ship the purchased item (or an equivalent) to the purchaser as soon as you receive more stock. You don't even bother to offer any options to your customers to try and satisfy them. You just basically send out an email that says "we're cancelling your order and there is nothing you can do about it. Too bad".

When I ordered the merchandise, there was even a question if it was OK with me to "backorder" if necessary. I answered that question in the affirmative. When I got the email about my order being cancelled, it stated that you don't do backorders on ammo. The name of your website is "BULLETS.COM" and you don't do backorders on ammo (even after offering that option at the time of purchase)?? Seriously?

The bottom line is that it's easy to SAY that your customers are important and valuable to you. It's much more difficult to back that statement up (and in my case, you have failed miserably). I will continue to tell anyone and everyone who will listen about my experience with your website until you reach out to your "customers" with a concrete and satisfactory resolution to this issue.

Let us give you more information so you understand what happens behind the scenes and what we are doing to fix it.

The item in question is .22LR ammo, which is by far the highest demand item, ever! When we get stock in, it could be 10 boxes or it could be 500 boxes, it gets into our system and shows up as available on our website. There are websites on the internet that check on various ammo related sites and report which company has stock of items and this causes a hugh surge in orders.

These orders are processed in the order they are received. When customers place their orders on our website they receive automatic reponses thanking them for their orders etc. Sometimes, what happens is by the the time our website catches up to the actual stock that we have on hand, many more orders are taken on our website than what we can ship and we have to inform some customers that we could not fill their orders. At no time are these customers' credit cards charged.

Our IT department is working hard on a fix so that such issues do not take place. After all, it is more work for us to inform customers that they will not be getting the product, as well as the fact that we do not gain anything by making customers mad at us. We are sorry this took place, but at no time was it being done to antagonize customers. We would love to have a few million rounds of .22 LR ammo right about now so that we can satisfy the needs of our customers.

We should have the programming fix for this within a few days. We get shipments in all the time of all the hard-to-get ammo. Just keep checking our site.

Thanks.
