The Cadle Company should be investigated by the US Attorney General for tactics they use to hound persons for old debts, long expired! If you have not paid in 24 years, chances are, your not going too!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Dee, its actually not illegal to attempt collections, and..

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 28, 2006

Dee,

Although totally ridiculous, and even unethical, it is not illegal to attempt collections on an old debt, even being past the legal statute of limitations.

And, the FTC has sole jurisdiction over complaints regarding debt collectors. The US Attorney General has no interest or jurisdiction here. That is not their job.

The game they play here is to harass and intimidate you into making even a small payment which would re-affirm the debt and restart the SOL.

These are junk debt buyers who buy a debt of that age for less than 1/10 of a penny on the dollar.

Just call them and start laughing real hard at them and let them know what lowlife they are and how disgusting they are, etc. Then tell them if they call you again you will prosecute them for harassment and stalking.

Send a cease communication request to them by certified mail, return reciept requested. put the certified# on the letter itself, and keep a copy for your records.

Then you sue them as provided for under the FDCPA when they violate the request.

Might as well get paid for your time.
