I tried contacting californiabirthindex.org and it's host Dreamhost, but got no response from californiabirthindex.org and a refusal from Dreamhost to take down the name, birthdate, AND your mother's maiden name all obtained from your birth certificate - all searchable by anyone via internet search. They claim this information is legal. But I consider it available to identity theft and a violation of privacy especially when I have absolutely NO option to take it down like most background check sites and without the permission of the individual to have on the internet for everyone to see in the first place!

Please help me bring them down by reporting them to the Better Business Bureau http://www.bbb.org/, and other legal action at your disposal.

Email these people from californiabirthindex.org AND Dreamhost. If enough people do it, then it will be taken down. If you do a google search with Dreamhost.com you will see they have a terrible review and reputation as a hosting site in general. californiabirthindex.org is by far the most difficult site to remove your personal information I have come across. There were 2 others, but at least they eventually complied at the end(with the return of personal information after I battled it through!)

Plus californiabirthindex.org may be associated with Ancestry.com and Rootsweb.com
