Capital Consumers Group aka US Guardian ripoff, credit card fraud. New York Ontario

I am writing this in hopes of helping others. Right now I am in the process of stopping this with my bank, in hopes of preventing them from debiting my account.

I recieved a phone call 16 AUG 02 from a Michael Brown from US Guardian (416)363-3438 showed up on caller id. His statement was that I was approved for a $2500 MasterCard, and a $2000 Visa, and all it would take would be $199.00 debited from my checking account. After asking him numerous questions about the validity of these cards, I informed him that I didn't have the money now, and that I wasn't really interested.

He came back with, "Well Sir, we will send you the cards first and you can then make a cash withdrawl from the cards and put it in your account to cover the fees." With that I thought well that would be ok.

At the end of the conversation, he told me that my card would be here no later than 22 AUG 02. I came home to check, found no card. I called the company, and when I asked for Michael Brown, they stated that he no longer works here. I got suspicious. I informed the "supervisor" that I was promised my card would be delivered by this date, and no card has shown up. He then got short with me, and stated for me to "be patient, and sometimes the mail service is slow" He then gave me the number to their Customer Support Department (416)289-3634, and to call between 9am-4pm. I then asked him if they would be able to inform me when it was shipped to me. After him getting upset he ended up stating yes then hung up on me.

I immediately got suspicious and started checking around on the internet to see about this company... to my horror, and not exactly to my surprise.. here I find it on Rip-off report.com

I am in the military, and will be informing Commands to update their listings of Fraud companies of this misleading company. I hope no one else gets scammed by them.
