I thought I would use my rewards to buy gift cards. My wife accidentally threw them out because there was not tracking provided, no email notification of delivery, erroneous timetable for delivery, and the envelope was a non descript, white envelope that looks like junk mail. $400 worth of cards! I called customer service twice and on both occasions they said it wouldn't be a problem. Received a call today from rewards services, Capital One will not reimburse my points nor reissue the gift cards. That's how you support families in a pandemic?  A multi-billion dollar company.

You Changed Your Story

AUTHOR: coast - (United States)

POSTED: Saturday, December 26, 2020

You changed your statement from, "My wife accidentally threw them out… the envelope was a non descript, white envelope" to "we don’t know if we even received the mysterious white envelope."

"With that being said, the company saves money by delivering $400 of gift cards"

They did not save money because they already paid for those cards.

Throwing away the cards is equivalent to trashing cash. Your complaint is not valid.

You asked...

How did we know they were in the card. I answered we don’t know. In fact, I’m not even sure she threw them out, we just assumed that’s what happened. Considering, I’ve payed thousands of dollars of interest in order to earn 60,000 thousand miles in rewards. Yes, in order to get $400 in rewards you need to earn 60,000 miles or spend $60,000. So yes, the company could have used a more secure form of shipping, like Amazon does. In the end, I do t need to be a Capital One customer, they’ve lost my business and I don’t have to answer to you.

White Envelope

AUTHOR: Christopher - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, December 24, 2020

To this day, we don’t know if we even received the mysterious white envelope. We were told by Capital One that the envelope was delivered on a certain day. They never gave us tracking information, so we never knew when they were arriving. They could have been thrown out, or they could have been stolen from my mailbox. We just don’t know. Capital One’s response to me was that they are not responsible for lost or stole gift cards. With that being said, the company saves money by delivering $400 of gift cards by not using Fed ex or comparable company, not providing tracking, not insuring the cards, not providing accurate delivery dates.
