I've been trying to cancel my CapitalOne credit card for several months now, paid all the balance in full but a monthly statement keeps coming with unathorised charges on it.

There is a phone number for reporting unauthorised use of credit cards: 1-800-951-6951. I cannot even report the unauthorised charges on my credit card because there's no human answer to that phone number. Dead end.

They work hand in hand with that "Ripoff" company "Webloyalty-ReservationRewards.com" (this is another story), and with other fraudulent companies (like Stonebridge Life Insurance which harasses people on the phone 2-3 times a day, day after day, to sell them life insurance for cancer!!!) and sell people's personal information. And Aol.com can be included on this list too, a bunch of thieves. Trying to cancel an Aol account? Keep trying. And be prepared with looong patience and sedatives.

So, anyone who may read this report, spread the word: STAY AWAY FROM CapitalOne!

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Disputing unauthorized charges

AUTHOR: Janice - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 19, 2006

You don't have the correct information. Capital one cannot cancel recurring charges on your card because they are preauthorized, only you can by calling the companies direct who are charging you. The number is listed right on your statement next to the charge. Robert was absolutely correct in his suggestion to you.

Also, that number you are calling is not even correct if you want to dispute a unauthorized charge its 1800-887-8643 and you will get right through. They are very good to advise you on how to get these charges off your account and on disputing charges you are unable to get the merchant to remove.

I do hope by now you have the situation resolved but for others who find this report I wanted to share that number and information.

#1 Consumer Comment

Have you called the company that is charging your account?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 28, 2006

That is usually the first logical thing to do. There is usually a phone number listed on your statement next to the company name making the charge.

Then if you are not getting any resolution, file a fruad report with Cap One.

If it is a third party service associated with your account, call Cap One customer service to cancel whatever you subscribed to.

Good luck.
