Management wields a double edged sword. They have you sign a stack of papers stating the items you are not to do and then break they're own rules when it suites them. Most of the management has never sat they're asses in a tractor seat and do not understand nor care about the tasks we (drivers) under take. Supervisors will look you in the face and tell you that the open door policy is confidential and that there will be no mention of what was said.   "WRONG".

I fell for this and now I work with co-workers, dock employees and customers for believing in the word of a supervisor.  If your a professional driver looking for a job and a company to retire from then please be cautious about this company. This company shows lack of driver worth and the cards are stacked against you. I'm not disgruntled yet but I hope my experience can help you the drivers thinking about this company.

Company sinks even lower

AUTHOR: not important - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, May 10, 2012

I  was asked to turn in the keys and paper work for that load mentioned earlier. I did not remove personal contents along with company straps, oil and such. Since, other drivers have used this truck and now Linda asking me about the company nylon straps. "WoW" honestly. A woman scorned is and a Corporate Manager will try about anything I swear. I asked to get my bedding so I could wash it and was turned away by Linda. Honest people, Im not making this up. Linda even asked a fellow office person to sit in on phone call just to tell me no that I cant come get my bedding until I speak with Tom. Last week I went for a ride with Lindas assistant whom told me that Tom (Corporate) was down for 24 hrs. reviewing D.O.T Logs. She said that there was alot of mistakes by the drivers that they had so far reviewed. Yea, you guessed it now they are CORRECTING these mistakes. "HUMMMM" is that legal. I will get with Highway Patrol and get back with you.  Last week Linda called me and stated that I had just finished with the customer and wanted me to call her back. Linda knew this because of the electronic handheld. But then I got a message stating that I too had mistakes on logs because Linda and Corporate says my handheld has not worked for two weeks. Linda said I needed to correct some errors on my logs. If handheld did not work then how did Linda know I was done at that exact time. Wow. It goes to show that stupidity starts at a Corporate level with this place and they get dumber down hill. BOTTOM LINE FOLKS. HAVE AN ATTORNEY ON CALL IF YOU DECIDE TO WORK FOR CARDINAL LOGISTICS. TOM has proven it starts at the top.

Safety does not come first w/ this Company

AUTHOR: not important - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 01, 2012

I had good feelings knowing that Corporate was looking into my allegations, but not so much now. I reported Linda to Corporate for running drivers illegally for safety reasons not to mention the legal reasons. Since then she has harassed me and threatened my job. Her continuous lies and threats have taken a toll on me. Last night she began to her verbal assault again. Anyway, I was driving and had to stop for awhile. I realized that all this stress had made me unfocused and not very safe because of the constant worry and wondering whats next. Besides this it was raining hard and that mixed with stress doesn't mix to well. I called Linda to tell her that I felt unsafe and was returning to the yard. She did not answer the phone. I notified Tom w/ Corporate and he did not respond. After approx. 30 minutes Tom called. I told him my ill feelings and distractions and that I was going to drive slow back to the yard to stay safe. So now Im driving trying to be safe and do the right thing when Linda calls me. I pulled off onto the shoulder  and Her exact words where: "ARE YOU REFUSING THE LOAD, ARE YOU REFUSING THE LOAD,ARE YOU REFUSING THE LOAD etc. " I was trying to explain but she wouldn't let me speak and kept repeating this phrase. I had to hang up because I was becoming even more frantic and stressed and mad. I slowed my speed and applied my hazards.  Then Tom called and I pulled off again.  He also asked if I was refusing to take the load I said no and explained my self again. I also said that I was driving slow because knowing I didn't feel the safest that if I left the truck that they would get me for abandonment. I made it back to the yard and all they text-ed me was that I needed to put paperwork and keys in a mailbox.  Not one call to check on me.

My supervisor called me wanting to know when I would be in the yard. I told her around 8:30pm and she said that she needed me to run the city route which details setting up the docks and making early time sensitive runs at 5:00 am. I told her three times that I would be running illegal due to not being down for my 10 hours off. She stated that she needed me at 5:00am.  I'm under my probation time and did as I was told.  I questioned about the home office finding out  my times on the hand held computer and she told me not to worry and that Corporate only looks at usage time not actual appointment times.  Long story short I told her that I will run legal and she got pissy.  I was pulled into her office and accused by both Linda and her assistant for going above her heads   and seeking upper managements opinion   She denied everything and in her exact words "if I remember correctly your still under your 90". I had enough of the face to face lies spewing from her mouth and then threatening my job that I got up and left the office.  This is the person that controls the routes and your weekly pay. I will credit Linda for her tactics and her now famous line "I never told you that". (Yea, of course not, I just woke up at 5am thinking that I would just go to work and do what ever assignment I wanted.) When I called her out she got so flustered that she admitted that she told me to be there and when I quickly pointed that out she began to spew the same crap. After telling her three times that I couldn't be there at 5am, she tells me that a driver must be more forceful and say no. "Gosh" I thought I had three times you thick headed b***h. Ultimately guys, this person Linda is probably an isolated account with Cardinal but I find it hard to believe I'm the only one to question these tactics.
