My wife and I sold our home in 2004 during the housing boom. The realtor we chose, Keller Williams Heritage Realty, was using a cash rewards program as an incentive for going with them. The company they use to manage this program is Cash Rewards, Inc. At the time of the sale, we were told we would receive $4000.00 if we submitted all the correct paperwork three years from that date. We went through the paperwork with a fine toothed comb making sure we didn't leave out any details. In addition to other forms, the company requested that we send our birth certificates (not copies), the HUD statement from our home sale, satisfaction of mortgage, and a copy of a recent utility bill from our current house with valid address. In February of 2008, we sent in every form requested. After about 90 days, we received a letter stating that we were denied because we didn't include a copy of our utility bill with our name and address on it. I made copies of every form sent to them, and the utility bill was one of them. The rejection letter allowed for one appeal. We appealed, they rejected again. Because I know the bill was in there, I know this company is being deceptive. There is no protection for the consumer. There are multiple blogs online complaining of this program. Please do not do business with companies using this program. You will not get the money promised to you!!
