I started working for a company called Cbeyond May 12, 2008. My first day of training we, about 10 of us, were told we would receive our first mileage of $200, and that after training if we past a final test with a 100% we'd also get a $500 bonus fee. The market director as well as the managers reassured us several times about the bonus and the mileage.

However, I quite June 11, 2008 because several times I spoke with my manager and told him my "territory," that was in Miami, was tough for me because I don't speak a second language of spanish. He said not all business owners in Miami speak spanish, but in actuality a great percentage do. Aparently it was my problem, I just figured it would make more sense to have a bilingual employee cold calling the different businesses there in Miami.

So the morning of June 11th after arriving in Miami, I go to call my manager and my phone out of everyones is off, not broken, but off. It said my account was invalid. I then tried to call another employee from a pay phone and hers was working fine. So I called my manager from the pay phone and Mark didn't pick up. I then called my boyfriend, whom called my manager and he told my manager what happened.

Then I called my manager again and finally got a hold of him. Mark did not seem concerned at all in fact all he said was "I'll look into it." Mean while I use that phone for both personal and business, I was advised that was okay to do. So I decided I didn't want to work for people who didn't take care of their own. All day my phone was off, no one looked into it.

More importantly HR said I wouldn't get paid for the mileage or the bonus. What they failed to mention in training was you had to be there 30 days to receive both. Well HR then advised me I signed paperwork that stated that was the rule. However, all the trainees received over 700 pages we had to sign. I only scimmed through half of them.

Maybe it's my responsibility to read word for word every page, but they should have reiterated that particular rule in training. Instead they chose to mislead me and probably others by not saying anything other than, yes you will get it as long as you pass with 100%. Worst of all I have not worked there, but my boyfriend received a call stating there were rumors about me working in an inmoral environment previously.

The employee also his friend who called my boyfriend, said that I was repeating it. Why the heck would I start a rumor about myself ? I wouldn't , I am not that desperate for attention.

Anyways, bottom line is Cbeyond is a rip off. We, the trainees, were told by our market director Cbeyond was sued by falsely identifying themselves as AT&T to a client/business owner. Who wants to do business with a company so unprofessional and misleading not to mention careless. Afterall, business owners don't have time for mistakes especially expensive ones.

Bottom of the Barrel

I'm a former employee, went through the training class in September of 2007, and I look down on those people who get a job and expect rewards for doing absolutley no work.

There is always a lag time between the time you start a job to the time you start getting bonuses. With CBeyond, they paid bi-monthly...the first check was your salary and the second your salary + commissions + bonuses...but of course you wouldn't know that since you didn't even work there a month.

As far as your problems with your cell phone - count yourself lucky, we didn't get blackberries until we had been there three months, and even then - with technology there are bound to be problems and CBeyond is always going to take care of customers before it takes care of employees' cell phone problems.

It sounds to me like you got hired by CBeyond with the expectations of free money and a free cell phone and were let down by the fact that you would actually have to work hard hitting doors and cold-calling businesses day after day after day.

I was there for almost four months and I can say, that once you get into the groove of the company and all your commissions start rolling in - it is well worth all the work you put in...but starting a job, being a week out of training, and expecting all this free money...yeah right. Oh, and they used that example of the company being sued by a dumb Sales Consultant that identified himself as the ILEC because THEY DON'T WANT YOU to do that...it's not common practice for a consultant to call a prospect and identify themself as AT&T, and if it is found out that you have done such you would have been terminated on the spot.

Good try at trolling CBeyond, but your arguments are moot.

The rumors...well, there are two sides to every story and good luck finding a job that doesn't have atleast some immature people at it that enjoy the rumor mill...I'd say that is the least of your worries and would work on better work ethic.
