Cedar Publishing Corporation Claims Faxed Information Is a Consent to Payment Edmonton Alberta

This company has been contacting our small business for years. We have tried numerous times to break free from them by sending them letters or telling them on the phone that we are not interested in placing ads in the Police Magazine, Firefighter Magazine or Childfind Magazine. We own a small business and my husband is usually out on a job when he gets a phone call from these people. He is on a jobsite on equipment and doesn't have time to listen or understand even what they are asking for so he will tell them to "fax" him the information so that we can look over it and then decide. Apparently, this company believes that a fax is acceptance and will send you a bill.

In the March 2008, we moved our office. On June 25, 2008, we received forwarded mail and in it is what appears to "proof" of an ad from Cedar Publishing and at the bottom it says that if no response by "May 25, 2008" proof will run as is. All the information is wrong so I phone the office to tell them that no one approved this ad and that all the information is incorrect as we had moved. The man from Cedar Publishing basically told me "tough luck" and that the ad was being placed. He was so rude and cruel that I ended up in tears by the end of the call. He called me unprofessional and told me to get a lawyer. A few months later, we receive a bill for $209.00 for this ad. I call again and the same fellow gets on the phone and once again verbally abuses me until I am again crying by the end of the phone call.

Then, they have the nerve to call my husband to place another ad. He tells that person about how the Police Magazine rep. made his wife cry and we wanted nothing to do with them. So then I get a phone call and an apology. Fine--But I request that they do not contact us again. We still get phone calls and they are still waiting on the $209.00 payment. They will not be getting a cent from us. I have had enough of companies like this bullying people into paying for things that they do not want or approve. As a consumer, you should be treated with all the respect in the world from a company that wants YOUR money.
