I purchased an unlock code from CellUnlock.Net on 8/8/15. It was for my Samsung Galaxy S4 that I was trying to sell. I wanted to unlock my phone for resale sale value. I did consider the fact that I could possibly buy an unlock code that failed to unlock my phone, so I was sure to look over the return policy that CellUnlock.Net displayed on their website. It say's "If you claim the code doesn't work, Refund will only be given if VIDEO PROOF is provided". This made me feel confident in purchasing an unlock code from CellUnlock.Net because trusted that if the code provided did not unlock my phone, I could send them video proof of that and they would honor their return policy and refund my money. I thought wrong!

At first knew this was a very shady company shortly after placing my order on PayPal. A few hours had passed after placing my order and I failed to receive my instant unlock code via email like I should have. This made me nervous so I attempted to cancel my PayPal order and was told I needed to dispute the charge in order to do so. So I filed a dispute and received an email from CellUnlock.Net threatening to blacklist the MEI number to my phone as lost/stolen (This would make my phone unusable on any network) if I didn't drop the dispute.

That scared me as I cant sell a phone with a blacklisted IMEI number, so I called PayPal and cancelled the dispute. I would later regret doing this because once you cancel a dispute for a transaction you couldn't re-open it for any reason. I would latter regret this. Looking back now I have to wonder if they even have the power to wrongfully blacklist an IMEI or if that was just a threat to scare me into canceling the dispute.

It took almost a week to receive my unlock code despite the fact that they advertised an instant unlock code. When I finally received it I attempted to use it and got the message "Network Unlock Request Unsuccessful". When I reached out to them about this I t took several days to get a response. In face I has to reach out to them several times and it always took 3-4 days to get a response. I tried calling the number provided on their website but that went to voicemail ever time. When they finally got back to me it was with a long detailed list of things to try in place of the unlock code. I am not at all savvy with electronics, so this was very confusing to me. Never the less I tried everything they threw at me only to become disappointed when it didn't work.

After a couple weeks of trying new things and getting nowhere I messaged them t requesting either a new working Unlock code or a full refund. The reply I received was instructions to take a video recording that showed me accessing the IMEI number on my phone followed by my attempt to unlock the phone using the unlock code I received from CellUnlock.Net. I was told that it needed to be uploaded to YouTube and provided to CellUnlock.Net via email in the form of a link and not an attachment. I provided them everything they requested and followed their instructions to T.

I received a response from CellUnlock.Net 4 days later. I was sure it would be a conformation that they had refunded me my $24.99. Instead it was yet again another set of long instructions on another possible way to unlock my phone. I followed those instructions and once again they too did not work. The response I got from them was "try those instructions again". I was getting nowhere.

My final email to CellUnlock was on 8/27/15. Yes, it had been almost a month of going back and forth with them since my order was placed and I was still no closer to a resolution than I was day one. I asked them to please honor their return policy and refund me my money as I provided the video they requested. I never received a response. Please see the link to the YouTube video below which shows the unlock code was unsuccessful.

Phone has clean IMEI number & CellUnlock.Net knew that!

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 07, 2015

While it's true that my phone had been stolen from me, I was lucky enough to get it back a week later by threatening to call police if he didn't. I didn't actually think that would work but it did! Getting my phone status removed from being "Lost/Stolen" was as simple as calling T-Mobile and letting them know I got my phone back and they confirmed with me that the phone was cleared.

When CellUnlock.Net emailed me with this concern I responded to them letting them know that I had contacted T-Mobile and that there were no longer any blocks on my phone so that can't be the reason the unlock code wasn't working. Michael Carroll is well aware that my phone was no longer in a Lost/Stolen status. If he was still concerned that it was after receiving my mail, then all he had to do was go to one of the many websites that offer free IMEI status checks and see for himself! Instead he's embarrassed I called him out on receiving an invalid unlock code and so he made up a scenario of how the fault was not on him and went with it.

Thing is I have also included the emails I sent in regards to this and IMEI reports from three separate companies (including T-Mobile) that all show the IMEI is clean and NOT Blacklisted.

Now that I just debunked your claim that the issue was my phone, I want to address the false statement you made saying I refused to try another unlock method provided by you. I went back and forth with you for a month trying new things from factory reseting my phone (Which is a huge pain in the butt) to following long lists of directions that were confusing and never seemed to work. I get an A+ in cooperating with your constant requests to trying new methods. To be honest, I didn't have to be so patient and willing to try new unlock methods. I paid for an unlock code to unlock my phone. That should have worked and I wouldn't have been Inconvenienced the way I was. I have provided my email to you stating that I did attempt the unlock directions you gave me but that they did not work.

As for your claim that I enteredI the unlock code incorrectly, How can that be when I have a video of me following the exact process you provided me with via email? Entering the unlock code is simple as your locked phone prompts you to enter it. How exactly can one get that wrong?

As for my initial PayPal dispute, I already covered my reasoning behind that in my original report. It's not even a valid complaint as you threatened to illegally blacklist my phones IMEI if I didn't drop the PayPal dispute. I think that's also called

It's called personal accountability and you have none! You're pathetic attempt at a rebuttal was just squashed so now what do you have to say for yourself? The truth is I'm not the only person you've sold an ineffective unlock code to then refused to refund. The truth is you knew that once a PayPal dispute is canceled it cannot be reopened so you took advantage of the fact that I couldn't file a second dispute with PayPal for defective product or service. I think that's also called blackmail! The PayPal dispute was dropped and you got the money that you stole from me so what exactly was your point?

You are a very shady business man. You make threats to get what you want and further more you express concern about possible " false claims and financial loss" but have no concern for valid claims and the financial loss to the customer you're refusing to refund. You know that what you did to me and to others was wrong,  but you lack the ability to have understanding and compassion for others. Some call it Karma, I call it the wrath of God. Whatever it is, it's gonna bite you in the a*s someday!

2 sides to every story

AUTHOR: CellUnlock.net - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, September 07, 2015

We responded to this customer at every request made. There are always two sides to a story.

This customer filed a PayPal dispute within a 1/2 hour of ordering when we notified her the POSTED delivery window is 24 to 72 hours Monday through Friday. This specific unlock is NOT an Instant unlock and never was and is NOT posted as this. This is a unlock from the carrier and this is a universal unlock time window given by them. The PayPal was unwarranted and we notified the customer this was an unjust dispute as this claim she is making. It turns out that the phone she wanted to unlock was reported to her carrier as STOLEN by her and then it was returned to her. Because of this reporting the carrier's system is not clearing the unlock. We presented the "video" to the code source for review or refund and they reported back that the unlock procedure was performed incorrectly and they provided additional procedures to give to the client. She has now refused to try these additional procedures and demanded a refund. It is posted in the purchase agreement that the buyer AGREED to BEFORE the purchase that video evidence is required. As she has refused it makes this impossible to proceed.

Regardless if a video is submitted, the earlier reporting of the phone being stolen is the true issue. The Code Source will not refunded for Lost / Stolen or Blacklisted phones. We state this in our purchase agreement to NOT submit Lost / Stolen or Blacklisted phones status can be cleared and the phone can then be unlocked. This is up to the owners responsibility to clear the blocking issue as we they’re the ONLY ones authorized to do so.

This information has been communicated to the buyer.

The Purchase agreement can be viewed here:

cellunlock.net/Terms.asp

The buyer MUST read and agree to terms BEFORE the system will allow a purchase to complete.

As Paul Harvey used to say at the end of the broadcast....

"And now you know the rest of the story"
