I received a telephone call from Cenco Magazine Services Rep on Friday, August 8,2008. Amanda Davis informing me that I had won a $1000.00 shopping spree at their gift center. She said the gift center has items just like Macy's Department store, that I need not to pass up this opportunity for a $1000.00 shopping spree. I was selected out of many for using my credit card and being in good standard with my card. I told her I was not interested because I was already behind on bills and almost in foreclosure with my home. Some how her fast talking convince me to listening to more she had to say. Normally, I hang up when someone trying to sell me something.

After she new she had my attention, she told me that I would also be getting three free magazines for 24 months at no charge. Then she mention something about 2 different magazine at a cost of $3.59. She said my monthly installment would be $38.90 for 24 months. She was giving me a student discount since I told her I could not really afford do such a thing. She then transferred me to someone by the name of Tina Jones. She said she would give me my tracking number so I would be able to use my $1000.00 shopping pass which had to be use within 120 days. I told her this sound too unreal. She gave me the name of their company, the address and a number that was suppose to be her direct line. She told me that I can go online to look them up. She also said if they were trying to get over that they would have so many law suites.

Then thats when she ask for my information. She also had some automated machine ask me some questions agreeing to what she had already explain to me. She was walking me through that also helping me answer the questions. She would tell me to say yes. I really did not understand everything that was said. She would repeat it and say yes for me or tell me to say yes. That part of presentation happening so fast. She said if I have any question I can call her at her extension 770-642-4900. She said she would work with me if I could not pay the amount.

When I look the company up the first thing I saw was Rip off report-Company Don't Trust. I hurry up to call them back and no answer. I call my bank on Monday morning they had already charged my account.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Listen Carefully

My problem with your report is you basically admit that you didn't listen to what the sales girl was saying.

They record your agreement on a tape system that you are free to review at any time.

The tape system exists to prove that you agreed to recieve the magazines. Unfortunatly the fast talking is a sales tactic to get you to say yes - it's your job as a consumer to say no if you do not wish to participate.

Cenco does their job and they do it well - they sell magazines. They don't use "unfair methods," they use "sales" methods.

They talk fast - you should listen carefully.

They avoid questions - you should ask again.

Do your research before you buy. That's your job as a consumer. In today's day and age - naivete is no longer an excuse.
