I took my 2006 kia sportage on March 25 into Central Kia in Plano to be serviced because it had been stalling on me. When I walked in Craig Green was at the desk and asked what my problem was when I explained he automatically took out his book and said that it would be 750.00 because it needed the 60,000 mile service my car has 87,000 miles which I said that I would do it but right now I just needed to know what was wrong with the car. Well I left it there and he called that morining and said that nothing was wrong with it so I said ok just do the oil change and I'll be there to pick it up he still insisted that it needed atleast a timing belt which would cost about 450.00 so I said no not if there is not anything wrong with it my husband it pretty consistent with oil changes and flushes and so forth. Well I took it home and later on that week it started stalling again so on April 10th my husband took it in himself and they convinced him that it needed the 60,000 service so since we don't know much about cars he figured that's the reason it was stalling and they thought that was the reason also. well my car ended up being in the shop until the 14th of april when I picked it up that afternoon I took it home and as soon as I pulled up into the driveway it stalled on me again and all the panel lights came on so I took it back to Cental Kia in Plano well they called me the next day and said nothing was wrong with the car their terms were maybe it was trying to get used to the new timing belt and other new stuff they put on so says their technicians. So I picked it up on april 15 well on april 17th while running some errands it completely stalled on me again so my husband got it to turn on and took it back which this time they were positive that it was the fuel pump and that cost us 644.00. They assured me on Mon april 19 that it was definitely the problem so I paid yet again and picked up the car on April 21 after doing this it ran great for about 2 days and on Friday April 23 it stalled again while waiting to pick up my daughter from school. Central Kia in Plano has spent their time telling me they think it's this or they think it's that and still not solution the reason we keep taking it back is because they already did the so called work on the car and if someone else touches their parts then they will not take resposiblity for what they did. Now it's April 26 and they told us now that it's some censor and that it will cost 150.00 when I told them that why didn't they take that 150.00 from the 644.00 that they had already taken from us they get very defensive about it . I'm starting to wonder how many people has Central Kia in Plano done this to. When I told him that I should get a refund for a fuel pump that my car did not need they also got defensive. After reading how they rated a F in the BBB I would have never taken my car there they have put in a financial fringe because of things they thought were wrong with my car and never fixed what was really wrong with my car. My husband tried to get their service manager to call him back and of course he didn't call him which is to be expected from that kind of business. After this experience I will never buy from Central Kia in Plano again nor will I recommend anyone buy from them.

Mechanics are not super human that can figure out exactly what is wrong the first time every time. Some have more experience, and others are basically minimum wage flunkies. SOME of the items you listed, such as the timing belt, are general maintenance items. They may not have been the cause, but could have needed to be replaced. KIA's are not known for being "great" cars, actually they are not even known for being "good" cars. Just take a look at the resale value. So it is just as possible that you have more than one issue, especially at 87,000 miles.
Now, have any "codes" been reported. Generally if you are having a Service Engine Soon/Check Engine light come on there should be a code that can be read. If so you should take it to a place that can read these codes. This would include any other mechanic, as well as some auto parts store. And NO doing this will not void out any warranties. They will read the code and let you know what the code(s) are. Some will charge you for this, but others do this as a "free" service.
Does this tell you exactly what is wrong, NO. But it gives the mechanics an idea of at least where to start. Then if you have a good mechanic they may even tell you what the possibilities are. But at least if they give you the code you can do some research on your own, to be more informed when you take it into them(or another mechanic).
