I was ripped off by these people bad! I am currently going into business with my grandfather and its taken a while to get things going. Our store will not be open until Jan. 07 so i decided to find a way to make money in the mean time.
I was contacted by CPC and asked to join their company. I thought this was a scam so I asked how much does it cost to join (like most internet scams) and they said it has no cost and i work as a contract laborer.
I was like WOW! After about a week I recieved my packet with all of my information as well as my business cards. I spent over $150 in gas for two weeks going from business to business. Well, guess what? I didnt make a single sell.
I was harrassed everyday by my director who said that I need to make a sell or I would be fired. I got lucky and my business will be opened on Dec. 1st so I quit CPC.
They lied about everything to me. They say that they are the cheapest around when in fact they are very high. To make any money you have to offer higher rates than their so called break even rates which are usually 20-30 percent higher than anyone actually pays. Their break even is 1.65 when out of all 300 plus businesses i went to only paid 1.39 or 1.45 percent.
I recommend everyone to stay away from this scam. I wasted money that I shouldnt have spent in gas. After checking with many agencies I have come to believe that this SO-CALLED company is run out of someone's basement. Just call them and go thru their company directory and you will only get like 4 people's names that even work in the SO-CALLED home office.
I eventually called them back after researching them (i called the number that appeared on my caller id not the corporate number when they called me) and a woman answered and said that this is the steven's residence. This business is being run from someones home. Stay Away!

My Experience With CPay
AUTHOR: A.M. - ()
SUBMITTED: Friday, August 01, 2014
Central Payment has a lot of unethical practices, but I don't believe they are doing anything illegal. Their business model is basically a scam, but not illegal. These practices should, in my opinion, be illegal, but they are not. As far as the product and services go? They are no better or worse than all the other processors out there. All a bunch of crooks if you ask me. So to make a long story short, this is how they get paid: the managers hire nothing but incompetent, unskilled, and inexperienced salespeople. Minimal effort is invested in their training. Maybe they sell a few accounts and come to realize that a liveable income is not the norm, so they quit and guess who gets their residuals? That's right, the managers. It's set-up for the managers to make money, just not so much the sales people. I took this job against better judgment, because a good friend of mine happened to be the branch manager. I don't even know what friendship is anymore. For the record, I am not a weak salesman. I do have a proven track record that can be vouched for. The proof is in the pudding. Where are the mortgage brokers, real estate agents, or automotive finance managers who have switched over to working for CPay at any level below management? There are none. I only took the job based off of friendship. There is simply no other possible way I could have been recruited.

Be AWARE the problems with this company!
My issues with Central Payment surround mostly poor/rude customer service and monthly charges when you’re not using their services at all.
I have a small import business and used central payment for the past year and a half or so specifically for processing credit card transactions at the occasional open air market. The last out door marked sale was spring of 2013, and as such we haven’t used the service for nearly a year. Central Payments, we found had been debiting our account $37 to $39 per month throughout the year totaling nearly $500 for services we weren’t using. Now, sharing some of this responsibility, I should have been watching my business account more closely and monitoring these deductions, but Central Payment was also more than happy to sit back and collect money monthly from my business for doing absolutely nothing!
When I became aware of these deductions I immediately phoned CP’s Merchant Services and spoke to a rep who told me to send her their completed cancellation form as soon as possible and that she would expedite closing my account, and following suite I emailed a completed document to her with their form within the hour. The rep emailed me back and told me that she received the cancellation request and that she would handle it.
I’m sure you can see where this is going, but checking my account again two days ago I found two more deductions of $37.95 from my business account to Central Payment. I again looked up the saved email from the account rep and phoned her directly to inquire. The rep wasn’t in and I left her two voice messages and an email over the past two days, un-returned.
Today I phoned CP again, waited on hold for 10 minutes and was able to speak with Trudy in Merchant Services. I explained the situation of overpayment to Trudy and, while constantly interrupting me and defending their company’s 30 day cancellation policy etc, told me that I was “badgering her” and should have taken responsibility to contact Central Payment myself when I realized that I was no longer in need of their services. This rep did offer to refund my account for the final month of “ripping me off”, and I ended the call feeling extremely disrespected and frustrated.
I phoned the company’s corporate office later in the day and requested to speak with a manager or supervisor, being placed on hold again for 10 to 15 minutes. Finally the assistant that answered the phone told me that a supervisor would have to call me back; and of course never did.
Lately I’ve found that it’s REALLY all about customer service, or the lack thereof. For me it’s not worth it to use a company such as Central Payment who is clearly only in it for $$. Beware!

Sales is not for everyone

You all need to keep in mind that sales requires: skill, motivation, dedication, desire, need, and a bit of greed. Central Payment Corporation is a very large company. I have worked for them now for 8 months; the first 3 months with the company i only worked part time while working a regular paycheck job. I went Full Time in August and have been extremely successfull eversense.
You will only be as successfull as you allow your self to be. CPC doesn't rip anyone off. You have to have the go getter attitude and the ability to handle the word no or not interested. I have made a great living in the last 8 months and have even received pay increases with the company. I intend on moving up and taking over a big territory of the US with CPC. I currently run the State of Alaska Territoy and it is a difficult area to run. but I try hard and although i stress at times; i have yet to even think about giving up.

Central Payment Corporation is a great sales organization!
AUTHOR: James - (USA)

I wish to rebut this complaint from an ex-account executive for Central Payment Corporation. I have been an independent contractor salesman for CPC for about a year now. I switched over to them from another company that wa snot providing good customer service to the clients I acquired. I consider myself a professional salesman and I will not work for a company that does not provide an honest product or service or good service after the sale.
As an independent contractor I am only paid when I make a sale. There is no base salary, however commissions are therefore generous. I have made very good money with CPC but I have had months when I did not get out and hit the streets and hustle and of course my income then fell. That is my own fault, not CPC.
I am very happy working for CPC and I have always gotten outstanding support and encouragement from everyone there, from the owner on down. They have bent over backwards to assist even my most inexperienced clients to get their businesses and equipment up and running.
Their rates for credit card processing are very competitive. Believe me, I know, I have been in this business for years.
They have given me all the tools I need to succeed, from motivational and informative conference calls, to a great agent website, business cards, polo shirts, tons of brochures and information for clients...
The bottom line is, that sales is not for everyone. You cannot sit on your duff and expect money to flow, you have to get out and hustle. If you work hard and are professional, sales is the highest paid job in the world. But some people need that security of a paycheck every Friday, they are uncomfortable with not knowing from week to week what income they will have.
The individual who wrote this complaint states they are going into business with their grandfather. As a startup entrepreneur, they had better be ready for some insecure income for awhile. My best wishes to them.
Central Payment Corporation is a great opportunity if one has what it takes!

I only worked for CPC For a few months. I can not go into the insite of how the business is run, but i can dispute that they are not run out of someones home. In fact they have two office locations. One is in California. The other is a small office located out of kentucky that they use for people on the eastern coast. Most of the hiring usually gets done out of the california office and so is all of the customer service. The only time you deal with the Kentucky office is if you have one of the few sales directors that are located at that location. They were good people to work for as far as working in the office themselves. I can't say how it was in the field for i never wanted that position.

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the Sales Director. Every other point has not been researched or examined. I also work with CPC and I do hit the pavement every day and believe it or not I have made good money. I have had one cancellation with 75 accounts. When another company offers below breakeven numbers they make it up somewhere in the statements. I have a great reputation with my accounts and have saved them hundreds even thousands a year. Yes they do have an office in California, a very large merchant department. They abide by all regulations as every other processor, in fact many processors are going out of business and or being bought be larger ones.

I joined CPC last April, twelve months ago. I started part time and thought I would give it a try. I am happy to say that this has been the most productive part time job I have ever had and I am ready to go full time with this company. My sales director has become a good friend of mine and my relationship director is a busy guy but always gets me what I need when I need it. I have always been paid on time and in full and the company has even advanced me money when I needed it for an emergency.
The supplies that we need are all on-line. Any paperwork is in a knowledgebase that has all the paperwork that we need. If this individual gave away all of his business cards in one day, 150 if I remember right and he failed to close a deal, I am sorry to say he is a poor salesman and should not be in this industry.
When I go out to work, I know that I have the ability to make a sale in any given six hour slot. Only ONCE did I work eight hours and not make a sale.
I have over forty clients and make residuals every month. Not to mention the amount of bonuses that I have received. I have two clients that I will sign up this week both of these were generated by two phone calls made on Monday. I will make roughly 150.00 an hour for this week.
One of the points that I make sure our potential clients make note of is that we have a good record with the BBB and encourage them to visit the website.
I am very proud of the company I work with, it is sad to see someone bad mouth it because they expected something for nothing. As they say, garbage in-garbage out.

I work at CPC
AUTHOR: Tinstar - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, April 03, 2008
I work there at CPC and can only say what the poster Brandon has to say is a bit off, first of all Centralpayment is located in Larkspur California at 125 E Sir Francis Drake blvd, not someones basement.
There's currently 70 people who work there including tech support, customer service, recruiting and underwriting plus the sales directors themselves and the Hymans who own the company.
Next to Tech Support, the recruiters there, as far as I can tell, have a difficult job of calling losers like Brandon, its tough getting people motivated just to listen to a conference call on a toll free number without them missing Oprah or Days of Our Lives. Brandon claims he was ripped off, I'd like to know how, he was told it would be an "outside sales job" that pays with commissions, bonuses and residuals. He is also overnighted by Fedex, a welcome package containing everything he needs to get his first account (for free) and if he needs more business cards, they're sent at no cost to him. In fact he has no out of pocket expenses with us at all
You can drive a car or you can take the bus, how you get to the businesses is your
problem. We have sales reps pulling down 6 figure incomes but those people are motivated and have a work ethic that is sadly missing in this country. Our Sales reps get paid within 24 to 48 hours of making a sale.
CPC is not just about "rates" its also service to the merchants. Any merchant service provider can provide lower rates but when their machine breaks, that's too bad. Buy another one on Ebay but at CPC we will fix or replace them
The other poster, the merchant? We process thousands of businesses' transactions and are in good standing with the Better Business Bureau, look up Centralpaymentcorp there as well as with the FTC. One bad business setup shouldn't tar the whole company

The truth lies in the middle
AUTHOR: Matt - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, June 15, 2007
I, too, was once a rep for Central Payment. I needed a gig to supplement my free time around my main job, which was mainly weekends with lots of travel. I thought CPC would be the perfect fit. I have an entreprenurial spirit and liked the idea of building my own book of business.
I was impressed with their support materials. Their brochures are excellent, their contracts well laid out. They even supplied me with business cards.
I thought their rates were decent; sometimes, they were better and other times they suffered. I remember pitching a local franchisee of a major national restaurant chain and found the CPC rates to be much higher than what he negotiated.
Their turn-around time on proposals was usually pretty good.
Now for the flip side of the "argument". Even though it was my desire to work this gig as a part-time position, the pressure from the home office in California was full-time.
The "sales assistant" you are assigned upon entering the company is not YOUR assistant, but rather a highly motivated, often over the top individual who acts as a sales motivator and to a lesser degree, a very fast talking trainer. This individual ofnconference calls sounded very young, rather inexperienced, and under a lot of pressure to deliver accounts to the higher ups. To me, a sales assistant is an individual that answers to the rep (me) and not the other way around.
Another unfortunate drawback was the fact that getting supplies after their initial set-up was tougher than expected. When I started, I received a batch of brochures (aka: leave behinds) and a small stack of about 50-100 business cards.
Naturally, after I started pounding the pavement, I ran out of these within days. My "assistant" was able to get additional supplies for me after I initially ran out. But running out of support materials is pretty common when you're constantly knocking on doors. As a result, I would constantly be asking for more and more supplies, of which he pushed back a few times. While they set me up initially, it got harder and harder to get support in this area.
But the biggest drawback to working for CPC comes in the fine print of the contract you are required to sign at the beginning of the process. In that fine print is language that requires you to sign up at least one new account each month. If you fail, CPC will cut you off, stop all commission checks, and terminate you from the company.
This is what happened to me earlier this year. You may think that gaining one account per month would be a piece of cake. That's not the case. There's a lot of door knocking. I did all of that and still struggled. I was pretty good at getting proposal requests. But closing with their rates was another story.
Here are a couple of reasons why I would pass on this opportunity:
1. Terminal Sales is all about timing. You knock on doors and sell to businesses that are already contracting credit card processing. 99% of the time these companies are locked into a 3-year contract. Even if they don't particularly like their current set-up, it will cost them hundreds of dollars to change to you. As a result, they bite the bullet and stay put.
2. New sales are particularly tough and here's why. You visit a brand new strip mall that's ready to open. Unfortunately, there's no one on-site at each available suite to talk to you regarding merchant processing. You leave a business card under the door with the other 10-15 reps that have already left their cards. You never get called back.
3. You obtain a copy of the listing of new business licenses from your local county courthouse in an attempt to contact new business owners. You then find out that the listings are old and that most of the "new" businesses in your town are already up and running WITH merchant processing services. Again, you are out of luck.
As you can see, it's a business all about TIMING, TIMING, TIMING!
If you are a good salesperson, go with a company that provides warm leads. That's what I needed. I can close with the best of them. I just got tired of spinning my wheels prospecting dead ends.
As for CPC, I seriously doubt they are run out of someone's house. They seem to have a business structure in place and were always timely in their payments.
Heck, I even made a couple of $100 bonus payments. Their training calls were helpful from a proceedure standpoint in the beginning and a motivation standpoint later on. But again, ALWAYS REMEMBER THE ONE ACCOUNT PER MONTH requirement for working with these people. Seriously, what would happen if you had a book of 150 accounts and you had a month where you didn't sign up a single business. They could take away your entire business. Looking back, that would have been a deal breaker with me.
I hope this helps.
