CenturyTel ID Theft, Fraudulent Account Monroe Louisiana

I have reported a fraudulent account opened in my name.
The account was opened in Wisconsin 2005, and I have lived in California since 2000.

I sent all paperwork and documents, including police report and letter from Landlord to prove that I did not open the account. Someone else used my name, ssn, and date of birth to open this account.

The perpetrator had gone to court (per wisconsin circuit court access on the web)and found guilty on the charge of id theft. My problem is that even though the person had gone to court,and found guilty, and I could not have been in Wisconsin during the time the account was opened, Century Tel still wants to hold me responsible for the debt, even though it is clear that I did not open this account.

This is a clear case of consumer fraud. They are holding me responsible for something I had no control over.
