Chase Card Services ripoff Unethical business practice Wilmington Delaware

This company stinks. I called Chase to ask if they would accept payment by a check drawn on a foreign bank.
The answer I received was 'YES, Chase will accept payment from any bank, anywhere in the world - it's all money.'

Based on that information, I sent them a check from my UK bank for 2,800 pounds sterling. This was in July of this year, when the exchange rate of US dollars to the pound sterling was approx 1.85. I was thus expecting that $5180.00 would be credited as payment to my account. On my next statement, $2800 was mistakenly credited, instead of the expected $5180.00. Then I received a letter from them, informing me that Chase do NOT accept anything other than US dollars. So, for security, I cancelled the check from my UK bank. I called their customer service department, explained the problem, and was told that Chase would simply correct the problem, by debiting my account the $2800.00. I then received a letter informing me that they would be charging me $407.68 US dollars for "currency exchange rate differences".

This problem is totally all of Chase's own doing. The information I received in my original call to their sustomer service department, was completely false and misleading. And what ownership and responsibility do Chase take for this?? - NONE, ABSOLUTELY NONE. Further calls to their customer service department are fruitless. They are the most unethical company I have ever had the misfortune to come into contact with.
If anyone knows of a class action lawsuit in the offering, count me in.
