Chase Home Finance derogatory credit reporting as the loan was being completey satisfied/seems like sour grapes for not continuing to use their bank /the reps had advanced info as to when funding was to happen but they trashed my credit score anyway by reporting a late payment on a paid off loan Phoenix Arizona

*Consumer Comment: I was told not to pay.

*UPDATE EX-employee responds: I Know it Doesn't Seem Fair

*Consumer Comment: Keep disputing. You may find someone who will help you.

I was told not to pay.

A few years ago I refinanced. The closing was to be around the 15th of the month and my mortgage was due on the 1st. The title company got a payoff around the 30th of the month, so they told me not to pay my mortgage payment due on the 1st, or it would screw up their payoff amount. I got to thinking, if we don't close until the 15th, I will owe a late fee too. So, I didn't listen to the title company and I paid my mortgage on the 1st. Yes, they paid off too much money to my mortgage company at closing, but I got the refund a few weeks later.

I feel the title company had no business telling me not to pay my mortgage payment just because it would screw up their payoff amount.

I Know it Doesn't Seem Fair

I know it seems unfair, but you are responsible for making sure your payments are up to date even if you are in closing. What should have been done by the title company was they should have set aside the month's payment in the paperwork to be sent in if they knew you were closing after your mortgage was due. Or they should have let you know to make the payment and that amount would be sent back to you from settlement funds. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I know it doesn't seem like it, but Chase does not have sour grapes because you refinanced. It happens all the time.

More than likely, they will buy your loan back and you'll be right back with the company. I've seen it happen and heard a litany of complaints about it. What you can do from this point is write a request to have that updated on your account. They actually may do it as a courtesy to you. It has happened before. Be sure to indicate the complete situation. And keep copies of all the documents you send and include your updated contact information and the fact that you are closing on a new loan. Include your old loan number so that they can find your account in the satisfaction system. I hate to hear this happened to you. The next time you're selling a home, be sure to talk to the title company about your needs to make sure your mortgage is taken care of and nothing reflects negatively on you.

As you have found, you still have to make your payment ontime. Technically you were late, even though you notified them you are selling and they would be paid off soon. Their computer system automatically does the credit reporting.

I'm sure the CSR's have no idea what division to transfer you to for credit reporting, but you need to keep trying until you get the right department. I would like to hear they did make that change for you since it sounds like you deserve it.
