Chase Moving Company Chase Moving Company held my furniture for ransom in my driveway until I paid them in cash. Detroit Michigan

     The hourly quote Chase Moving Company sales rep gave me over the phone was not honored.  For example she told me that they would not start billing me the hourly rate until after they arrived at my old house and it would end when they left my new house.  Instead they tacked on a half hour for drive time on both ends.  Also she told me there would be no additional fees other than the $79 hourly rate.  But they ended up charging me extra for miscellaneous things like shrink-wrap.

     On top of this they didn't bother to tell me about these new/hidden fees until after they had all my furniture in their truck sitting in the driveway of my new house.  And they demanded to be paid in cash!  They absolutely would not take credit card or check.  Basically they were holding my furniture for ransom in my own driveway!!!  I had to borrow cash from my daughter and family friends to pay them on the spot or they would haul my furniture to their garage until Monday (and then charge me even more to get it back).  Even the management is in on this scheme (I talked to them). 

     To reduce the overcharge/gouging that they were doing I had them dump all the furniture in the garage so I wouldn't have to pay them to put it in the house.  Even with this shortcut it cost almost $700 to move furniture and pre-packaged boxes from a small 1400 sq. foot home 1/2 mile to the garage of the new house.
