I was overdrawn by less than $7.00 and I called the bank to inquirte. They said it was NO PROBLEM because I had a credit from an unauthorized charge.
They charged me $46 anyway and then bounced the next (2) small ( $10 ) checks.
I deposited money, but they wanted $136 in overdraft fees and FROZE my account.
I am disabled with a brain injury, but I am mot STUPID. I offerred to pay (1) $36 fee, but they would not let me use my account and said they would CHARGE ME AN EXTRA $30 to close the account.
I was with WaMu for years until Chase took them over.
I went to the bank 4 times to try to find someone with a brain, and the last trip the Lady said that THEY INCORRECTLY CHARGED ME for (2) of the overcharges, but it was TOO LATE because the account was closed. They said it would HURT MY CREDIT.
This should HURT CHASE BANK"S CREDIT !!! They were WRONG and refused to fix it.

I also use chase but I do not use checks. Checks are ACH and there is no way to avoid fees if they bounce..why would you write 10 dollar checks in this day and age?
Well that aside...Chase charges 34 dollars per NSF if you bounce a check. So you would of had to bounce 4 checks to get this much in fees.
If you have truly been a victim of an unauthorized charge...you can dispute this. Ask the bank for a federal form E and the bank will have to investigate and reverse all charges.
