Choicepoint has been misleading the media and the government long enough. They did not have any procedures in place to stop criminals from gaining access to thousands of confidential and information sensitive records. They tell their employees not to contact the media. Well, since I was let go due to not "agreeing" with the way my department was being handled. I no longer feel any obligation to the company that I am no longer working at.
I strongly believe that the CEO dumped stock shares in October of 2004, after he had found out that the records were stolen by criminals. Why else would he suddenly dump his shares? It was said in a company memo to associates that they planned on selling them off for a while, but anyone with a shred of intelligence knows that this is a BS explanation. Coincidence that it happened the same month that we found out criminals gained access to sensitive records and data? I think not.
The people who were affected by their sensitive records being in the hands of criminals were not even informed until months after the fact. Nice to know the company cares enough about people that they ruin the lives of.
Just as a side note, Choicepoint was a key component to helping the government with data that lead to the arrest of several supposed terrorists.
But does one good deed make up for thousands of wrongs?
The company wasn't very concerned with the security of sensitive documents. In fact, they still aren't. Any employee working in the building can print up a list of social security numbers, walk out of the building, and no one would be the wiser. I wouldn't be suprised if this hasn't already happened.

I hope that there is a huge class Action lawsuit against ChoicePoint who has enabled people to become victims of Identity Theft through their Atlanta Office as well. They disclose other people's information, slam innocent people with false Criminal records, denying them employment when employer's go looking at false records. They need to be shut down. They are not a government agency and undo any privacy laws and get around Credit Freezes.
Just last week I recieved one from them with not just my information but other people's social Security numbers and vehicle information at at my residential address and NONE OF THEM LIVES HERE. Mind you I never sent off for it or paid for it.. I hope some attorney's go for their jugular real soon.
