I purchased an Island Escape Spa from Choose Hot Tubs Direct in February 2010 with a promised delivery date of 10 to 16 weeks. The delivery date came and went, and now 6 months later, despite promises, no spa. Much to my alarm, I've discovered I'm not alone, many other customers are complaining as well (See Ripoff Report: http:/www.ripoffreport.com/credit-card-fraud/steve-barbarich-choo/steve-barbarich-choosedirect). Even former employees report the company's questionable business practices!

5. Your local District Attorney's Office, specifically the consumer
affairs section - Internet Fraud and Civil Matters including refunds, promised credits, non-delivery, wrong product, etc.
6. The San Francisco District Attorney's Office can be reached at 415-551-9526 Ask to speak to Ethel concerning your case. This should only be for civil matters, especially non-delivery or internet fraud complaints.
The following information should be noted:
Most spas being imported from China, (not just from this company), fail to meet the mandated safety standards required for sale or distribution in the US or Canada. They are not properly tested or certified by UL or ETL labs per federal safety laws. The company is falsely claiming that they will correct this by replacing the parts with UL/ETL approved parts. They cannot legally replace or retrofit these spas after selling you a substandard and illegal product. Your course of action with Choosedirect should be to seek total refund and any expenses you have already incurred trying to repair the spa. Do not accept their attempts to repair your spa. If you sustain injury or property damage from the use of the spa, any claim for insurance could be denied based on the fact the spa is NOT UL or ETL safety certified as required by federal law even after retrofitting with US parts.
