On March 1, 2008, I pulled my 2007 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 into my driveway. I left the truck running and the lights on while I let my little dog out and unloaded some supplies. When I was through I reached in and turned off the key. At that point the truck started rolling backwards. I couldn't get away from the door and it drug me about 12 feet down my driveway then ran over my left arm. I also had abrasions on both knees, the knuckles of my right hand and a 12 inch bruise across both hips. I am still receiving treatment on my arm for nerve and muscle damage. I contacted Chrysler and they sent a mechanic to check my truck but told us nothing was wrong with it. The service manager where we bought the truck said the parking pawl didn't go all the way into park, it stopped between park and reverse. With the truck running it had enough forward pull to keep it from rolling but when I turned the key off it lost that pull and began rolling. The service manager said my truck has the same transmission, the 42 RLE, as the 2005 Dakota that was recalled but was supposed to be fixed. It is not fixed and has been a on going problem. How many people has to be injured or killed before they fix the problem? I believe that Chrysler is responsible for my injuries because they have a unsafe product.

I refuse to argue or trade comments with John. I am not ignorant or stupid and I did not cause the accident. John was not there and don't have the first idea what happened. If any complaint I have filed concerning Chrysler keeps even one person from getting injured or killed then I have succeeded at what I set out to do. In spite of what John said about the service manager he is wrong. The service manager did tell us. If anyone else has had this problem please file a complaint. How many more people will be injuried or killed before Chrysler fixes the problem? My husband and I have had 10 Chrysler products in the 38 years we have been married, the last three have been Dakotas, but I won't have another one.

Your own ignorance caused your problem.

And I'm pretty sure NO service manger is going to even remotely suggest that as that opens himself and the dealership up to a large liability claim.

My 'nice try though' was at your feeble attempt to blame anything other than yourself for your own negligence. The emergancy brake should ALWAYS be set just because of situations like this. You are where the true blame lies.

Use of Emergency Brake.

I don't really know what John is trying to say about "nice try though." I didn't set the parking brake but even the service manager for Dodge said the parking brake shouldn't have to be set. When the shifter says it is park it should be in park and it wasn't. Maybe if alarms were installed on all transmissions in Chrysler products instead of just diesel trucks we would know that it wasn't in park. Getting run over by your own vehicle makes for a very bad day.

I notice one small detail missing.......when, if ever, you set the emergency brake that would have avoided all of this. You didn't. Nice try though.
