I signed up for the credit monitoring and didn't realize at the time that if I'd gotten the report from TransUnion, it WOULD been FREE. I did, however, cancel within the 30 days (the lady I talked to, Sierra, tried her best to talk me out of it, even offered it to me for $4.00 a month instead, but I was pretty clear or so I thought, when I told her I was only in it for the free report, that I had seen it, and now wanted to cancel. Imagine my surprise when my credit card was billed anyway. When I called to complain, the man I talked to, Jared, told me the last time I called I had agreed to keep the service. When I told him there was NO WAY, he put me on hold for a few minutes and came back and said he would process my cancellation. When I asked about a refund of the charges billed to my credit card, he told me he couldn't process a refund, and that they didn't give refunds. After I reemed him out, he put me on hold again, came back and said it would be processed and returned to me. So much for customer service. I'll be complaining to the BBB also.

When you log onto the freecreditreport.com site, DON'T CHOOSE EXPERIAN! My husband's report came from TransUnion, and they don't ask for credit card information.

$12 charge was refunded to my credit card!!!!

AUTHOR: Sue - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 10, 2007

After I threatened to file with the BBB, the AG, and file a dispute with my credit card in response to the cancellation (but not a refund) e-mail, they told me I needed to call customer service. I told them I had already called them twice and would NOT be calling them again. I was surprised to see they actually followed through as the charge was refunded to my credit card. However, I won't be surprised if it shows up again.

I've successfully gotten charges reversed in 2 other instances stating I would be filing with the BBB and AG. I will be following through with it in this instance too.

Do not log into freecreditreport.com to get your yearly free credit report. Log onto annualcreditreport.com. That is the correct site.

Updated email from "customer service"

AUTHOR: Sue - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 07, 2007

I got an email confirming my cancellation BUT they won't issue a refund of the $12 charge from my credit card - I have use of my account until 8/2. When I directed a response to that, I got another email saying I should call customer service with my complaints. I will be filing with the BBB, the AG, and register a dispute with my credit card company. NO MORE CALLS TO THEM!
