I was notified by Capital One of fradulent activity using my name.I was told to go to annualcreditreport.com to obtain my free credit report. After getting half of my report, I filed my paperwork away resting at ease knowing that I also alerted my creditors of Fraud.

I logged into my bank account two days later and saw that I have been charged $9.00 for a credit monitoring fee that I NEVER signed up for. I looked all over the website to find a phone number to contact someone and there conveniently isn't one. I sent them a "comment" to their customer service dept to let them know that I want this removed. I have the feeling that it isnt' going to happen, and from what I've read from other posts, will continue to happen. Not only did my bank charge me $9.95 but I was also charged a $25.00 NSF fee which I should not be responsible for either.

I intend to call my bank as soon as they open and advise them that I did not authorize that charge. I'm hoping they will work with me but I fear that more charges will be submitted to my bank account in the future. Anyone have any ideas how I can stop this before it gets worse?

I went to my bank personally and requested that these charges be removed from my account. The bank personnel told me to fill out a form and they would investigate. I was just contacted by my bank and they're telling me they will not reverse the charges. (I've been with my credit union for over 8 years!). I called CIC back and told them I wanted the charges reversed and they too, refused. They told me that I will "not be charged for any more activity" but the current charges will remain. They claim that I "looked at my report" and therefore it warrants the $9.95 charge.. For a free credit report? How can companies get away with this? I am beyond furious!! Nothing would make me happier than to see freecreditreport.com shut down for good.

Whenever you entered your card information to process the authorization for the credit report, I'm almost certain that at the bottom of the form, a box was checked to subscribe to a free trial for CIC triple advantage or CIC credit monitoring. If you didn't cancel the subscription within 30 days, they would begin billing you. If you want the phone #, call 1-877-481-6826. Speak to a representative or a supervisor and tell them to cancel the subscription and remove your card # from their database. If they continue to bill you, file a fraud dispute through your bank or credit card company and have them reissue a card with a new #. Hope this helps.
