Provided the day (5 days prior to due date), date mailed and check number for mortgage payment in the amount of $255.87. Ten day grace is not until 3/30/2010.

Multiple calls per day (as many as 6) starting 3/22/10 One email that I responded to I called back provided the day (5 days prior to due date), date mailed and check number for mortgage payment in the amount of $255.87. On each of the following days multiple calls were recorded: 3/22/10, 3/23/10, 3/24/10, 3/25/10, 3/26/10, 3/27/10. On 3/25/10 I called the number left on answering machine (1st message left), provided info that I responded to email, provided date of check, next day mailed and check #, provided same information to rep that answered call (India is not provided with email responses from the states, no fax, no email, just instructions to call SEVERAL times per day). Same night received another call 5 minutes after I provided information called stated Oh, I do see the note sorry.

10 minutes later another call, before caller was given a chance to speak, I told them, I have provided email verification of payment, I provided the day (5 days prior to due date) date mailed and check number for mortgage payment within the last 30 minutes to one of your reps, explained the same to another caller within the last 30 minutes, the caller said Oh I do see that note can I speak to Dominic? I responded I do not and have never had anyone by that name at my residence. On 3/26/10 called & explained that I am reporting harassing calls to as many agencies as possible. 3/26/10 transferred to customer service - repeated all correspondence rep requested last 4 of SS. I refused to provide SS info - Our fed and state agencies state not to divulge and SS info over the phone. I requested email or mailing that Citibank would agree to pay the stop payment of the original check so a reissue could be prepared rep refused because I would not provide SS #. This complaint is being sent to a variety of agencies.

What exactly is the RipOff?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 27, 2010

Just about every mortgage I am aware of is due on the first of the month, and the period before they assess a late payment fee is between 10-15 days.  So having a due date on anything other than the first is quite strange.

You are very specific about all of the dates EXCEPT for the actual day you paid it.  Only to keep saying that it was 5 days before the due date.  But if we were to piece together the dates, if the 10 day grace period is the 30th, it would be due on the 20th.  5 Days before would be the 15th, which actually would be closer to the "standard" payment would be considered late.  But even if you have a mortage due on the 20th, they did not start calling until the 22nd.  So even though you were in the "grace period" you are still PAST DUE.

Also, it is correct that you should not give out your SSN to just anyone.  But you were calling them, you have an account with them, and they already have your SSN.  But they were not asking for your entire SSN, they were asking for the last 4 Numbers.  This is for verification to make sure that the person they are talking to is the person they say they are.  The Rep on the other end does not see your entire SSN, they only see the same last 4 numbers.

I really wonder what the rest of the story is.
