I made purchase of Sleep Train mattress ($1967.28) under the 1 yr no payment contract. I chose to make equal monthly payments ($200) and have it paid off before end of contract. Payments made until the last $367.28 when ran into set back. Made final payment ($367.28) 15 past the contract date and they SLAPPED me with $260 in finance charges!! How do we get from being a good monthly consumer to the abused??
I spoke with supervisor who had little to no sympathy. He offered to reduce the finance charge by 15% to $219. LOL. I have since called to "double check" the final payment amount and the automated statement is saying I still owe $260. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER AGAIN will I be suckered into this kind of contract (scam). Nor will I EVER give my money to Citi (or Sleep Train) again!! NOT EVER!!

Read the contract!!

You were NOT scammed. You failed to complete the contract and they charged you as so. You did not pay it off within the year as you said you were 15 days late. So because they did as they said in the contract you are going to complain?? Grow up, and pay your bills ontime. This is how all the no interest loans work that you see. If you do not pay in the required time you must pay all accured interest as everybody else.

The terms are quite clear. If you didn't like the terms you should have selected a different financing option.

How were you even remotely abused?

Seriously, you KNEW that if you were not paid by the final date, you were going to have to pay the interest. That's the way it works and why you were sending in so much to get it paid before then. YOU WERE ADMITTEDLY 15 DAYS LATE.
They even offered you a discounted rate and you balked at it. Talk about being ungrateful for your own ignorance. And what makes you so positive they'd ever want to do business with YOU again?

Acrrued Interest..
AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

This is not a RipOff, you didn't meet the terms of the contract. During this entire 0% promotion they are accruing the interest on the unpaid balance. Where if you pay it off in the terms they forgive the accrued interest. One of those terms is that you must make at least the minimum payment required on-time every month. If you fail, and you did by paying 15 days late, the special offer ends and you are then assessed the accrued interest.
It was in the terms that you agreed to when you opened the card. If you didn't think it was fair you shouldn't have gotten the card in the first place.
