After reading the complaints about the City of Denison I can't help but wonder if the people complaining should direct their energies toward the school system for failing them; poor grammar, spelling and no real concept of how government works.
I live in one of the poorer areas of the city, the interactions with the police department have been great! They are prompt and courteous even pursuing a minor theft from my house within hours. While they never found a suspect or recovered my property, this is real life not a TV show, I feel they did what any reasonable person would have done.

My one appearance in municipal court was a public hearing, the public could attend-the fact that none did is not the point.
I have attended several city council meetings-it was easy to find a seat but because very few citizens bother to come.
Elections for city council and mayor come and go but less than 50% of the population bother to vote! And only a tiny fragment of people bother to run -therefore most incumbents run nu-opposed!

In the 10 years I have lived here I have miraculously managed to stay out of jail! How? By not committing any crimes!-It's a jail it is supposed to suck!

So for the uninvolved, so called "victims' -quit whining and get involved, vote if you are still allowed to, attend city council meetings and hearings, participate, perhaps talk to police officers instead of acting like illiterate drunken thugs...

And has for the water-yeah we don't drink it either.

Yes I agree with your comments about Denison. You have the same City Manager, City Attorney, City Finance Director for YEARS. The city needs new fresh faces. The City Manager is up in years 60+, just built a new house and I'm sure he needs the cities money to pay for it since his wife is now retired. Talk to the City Manager and he will belittle you, make you feel stupid, and not do anything about the matter at hand. Take the Police Force for example. One of the Denison Police officers Struck and killed a Black Woman and guess what-NOTHING happened. Why, relations in other departments. Now if that was you or me, we would be jailed, prosecuted and hung. Property taxes remain way to high, cuz values have gone up so will the $$$'s for the city. Now raising the cost of utilities. Drive around Denison and see all the city workers standing around, along with the police officers enjoying multiple coffee breaks. I've seen it first hand. Take the Old School on Main that they have had to work on for 20 years and did NOTHING. Then a group wants to save the building and Denison says NO. They had 20 years. They could have had it renovated by then. They collected a $1 on the water bills for Waterloo park, why did they not do the same with the School. What are they thinking. Remember a CITY is a business that is owned by the Citizens. You do have a voice. Run for CITY COUNCIL, make your voice heard and attend the meetings(doubt if they will listen to you). Complain, take pictures of things that are not right that you witness. I would personally love to run for Council, but they would hate me. It's the taxpapyers monies that need to be the focal point and not the pockets of the Utility Director, Mayor, City Manager, etc. I could go on and on about this City, I'm highly considering moving so I can hear about, live it, or be a part of it. I would not encourage a company to move here-for what high taxes and corruption within the city. Just sit back and watch over the next few months now that the BUDGET is final and see what happens. Raises, maybe another $1000 bonus for the City Manager and Attorney as was given before. There is a better way to run a city but not with what is running it NOW. Bless all the citizens of Denison and run if you can and let them run the city without us taxpayers. There are better places to live!!!

The City of Denison water is not safe to drink, pure a glass of water from the tap and let it sit 15 minutes and look what you see about a quarter inch of white sitiment, This water will cause health problems, ask most Denison residents, they do not drink the water.

I talked with someone who previously worked at the treatment facility for more than 20 years and I was told the city put just enough chemicals in the system to get by and said if the public seen what goes into the system none of them would ever drink the water!

Look at the high number of people dying in this water district that are under 50 years old and most all have liver problems-Beware of Denison Water, Just another problem with the leadership here, compare nieghboring city Sherman TX to Denison,TX, it is obvious something is wrong the difference is night and day.
