I live in the Summerville area, and have been living here for more than 20 years now. Due to all the talk at work about this horrible company, I was more than prepared, when sure enough, one of their representatives rang my doorbell. Just like most everyone on here has already stated, the rep informed me that they were in my area doing some windshield replacements, at no cost, and wanted to help out one or two more people. I played along and followed him to my vehicle.

I did have two small chips in my windshield. One was located at the lower section close to the driver's side, and the other was all the way over on the upper portion of the passenger's side. He kept emphasizing the term "no cost", especially when I admitted that I had full coverage. Then, he proceeded to tell me that by my windshield having those two small chips, I qualified for a new windshield.

He explained to me that my insurance company would ask me if the damage could be covered by a dollar bill, then he proceeded to explain that if he took a dollar bill and placed it at one end, it couldn't be able to extend to where the other chip was at, and that's how I would qualify for a new windshield.

I played along, but had already made up my mind that I would never do business with this company, especially after hearing about their horrible reputation. Now, I was seeing, and hearing, everything for myself! He did state to me that they (Coast to Coast Auto Glass) does not participate in State Farm's (my Insurance Company) glass program because they pride themselves in using factory direct auto glass, and that they do not use the recycled after market glass like Safelite.

After he finished rambling, I asked to see his business license, to which he quickly opened up his white notebook and revealed it to me. Sure enough, just as everyone spoke about, the license was issued by the city of Charleston under the name of Synergy Management. I questioned him on this issue, and he courteously responded by informing me that Synergy Management was a marketing/advertising firm contracted out to Coast to Coast Auto Glass and Pilkington Manufacturer.

Though his response may have been true, I was still in total disbelief that everything I had heard was 100% true! There I was, standing in my driveway, right next to one of their representatives and could easily see how someone not knowing all the facts could fall for their somewhat deceptive practices.

The rep kept on trying to get me to produce my insurance card, and finally I told him I kept it in my home. I walked inside and left him standing by my car and immediately grabbed my phone. I stood at the doorway so he could see me as I informed the police of his clothing description. I was informed by the police that they have received numerous complaints about this so-called company. When the rep noticed I was on the phone with the police, and not my insurance company, he quickly, rather abruptly, went down the street out of my vision.

I don't know if the police caught up with him or not, but thanks to word of mouth, I didn't fall victim to none of their smooth talk. Believe me, since I had met one of the reps in person, I now caution everyone to call the police if they come to their doorstep. Sooner or later, either the police will shut them down, or everyone will be aware so nobody else has to deal with them.

I don't know if this company is legal, illegal, or just downright a bunch of scam artists, but I do know we have a few great auto glass shops who we can trust right here. If anyone comes to your door, especially if you reside in the town of Summerville, it is my understanding that they should have a Summerville Business License. Just ask them to show it to you. If they are truly legitimate, they will provide it to you along with the company's name it is licensed under. If they are using one name, and the license states another, then a red flag should caution you to not use them.

Please help others to not be taken in by this company. Word of mouth is so powerful!
