I bought a Coby Kyros tablet for my daughter last year (2012) for my daughter, a few months later the charging port broke. I contacted customer service and was given instructions on how and where to send the tablet it to get get replaced. I did as I was told and sent in the tablet with a money for the return shipping and a copy of the receipt.
I gave them time to recieve and process my claim since they did tell me it would take 6-8 weeks. After 9 weeks I started calling them, leaving voicemail along with sending emails and never heard back. After having no luck reaching anyone I contacted the BBB to find out they went out of business and unless I had different contavt info there was nothing they could do for me.
I did more research online to find the Coby Corporate Office in New York contact info. I have tried calling during normal business hours and NEVER get a answer or a call back.
So now I am left with no tablet, and they kept the money order as well and to add injury to insult ToysRUs where I originally bought it will not honor the protection plan I bought from them either because Coby kept the tablet. Both companies have ripped me off and left me extremely angry.

I cant speak about your situation with Coby. I can however speak about WHY Toysrus wouldnt help you. They need a physical item to send in. Even if that item is broken in half. They STILL need SOMETHING to send the insurance company. And YES your tablet was probably INSURED by Toysrus. Through one of the major retail insurance companies. These are the companies that offer the warrenty on any purchase. Toysrus can ONLY do WHAT the insurance group tells them they can do. The insurance group is a THIRD PARTY completly seperate from ANY retailer. So yea it sucks they kept your tablet and went out of business. But ToysRus is being named wrongly here.
